'Mythbusters' Cast Kari Byron, Grant Imahara & Tory Belleci Out

The show's fan-favorite hosts are making an exit after a good 10 years. "Mythbusters" main hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman made the announcement through a video on Discovery Channel.

"This next season we're going back to our origins with just Adam and me," said Hyneman.

Savage added, "We're gonna take a brief moment to thank you guys for your incredible work over the last 10 years. You've given literally your blood, sweat, and tears in the name of science and it has been a total pleasure not only to work with you but to call you our friends."

But fans of the "Mythbusters" trio shouldn't be entirely sad as it looks like the network has something in store for the hosts. Both Byron and Imahara tweeted about a new "adventure" while confirming their exit on the award-winning show.

"After a decade of the MythBusters, we are no longer with the show," Byron said on Twitter. "Thank you to all the fans who have supported us. The show is taking a new direction. It was an amazing run. I learned so much about myself and the world. I love you all. I am sad for an ending but there will be exciting new adventures for us."

"Thanks MythBusters for allowing us to teach science in a whole new way," Imahara tweeted. "Also, explosions. Now, on to the next adventure!"

Belleci did not mention any new adventure of some sort but thanked fans who have been with them for a decade instead.

She said in a tweet, "We couldn't have done it without you guys. You're the best fans anyone could wish for. Thank you. We are going to miss you guys! So much love & support. If it wasn't for you guys, MythBusters wouldn't have been possible."

"Mythbusters," via its official Twitter account, created a tribute to the trio, captioning it, "We want to thank @KariByron @GrantImahara @ToryBelleci for their tireless work, and wish them all the best."

Discovery Channel has also thanked the trio in a statement, as quoted by Hollywood Reporter:

"Kari, Tory and Grant have been an incredibly important part of MythBusters for over a decade. From explosions to car crashes to even more explosions, this trio has helped shape MythBusters into the Emmy-nominated series it is today. Everyone at Discovery wants to thank them for their tireless work busting almost 1,000 myths, and we wish them all the best on their future endeavors."

As Hyneman said in the video announcement, the show will be run by the original hosts starting next season. Byron, Imahara and Belleci's last appearance on the show was Thursday, August 21.

That show is its own universe. Hard core fans never liked Kari,Grant and Tory that much and want the show to go back to the original days of experimenting and less fluff.

A few things can be gleaned from a close reading of Kari, Grant and Tory's Twitter feeds and the farewell video on the Discovery website.

One, Adam and Jamie have known about this for weeks, because the production company had time to both film their farewell and edit together the montage of Kari, Grant and Tory.

Also, for people who watch Adam Savage on Tested.com, you know that he's shaved off his goatee and is now sporting a Fu Manchu. In the farewell video, he still has it.

Two, Kari, Grant, and Tory weren't included in the farewell. Just footage of them doing Mythbuster-y things.

Three, there's nothing in Kari, Grant and Tory's twitter feeds about new directions or new opportunities or anything until a tweet from Kari at 6:59 PM.

I'm wondering how close they cut the call telling them they were off the show. It'd be amusing to find out they were called during the episode broadcast to let them know they were being let go.

Should have blown them up in an episode gone horribly wrong.

I didn't realize that show was still on.

I actually preferred it when they upgraded M7 over the original format. My complaint was that they dropped Scottie.

Without Kari,
It isn't worth watching.

It would be nice if they would simply tackle "myths" that you can't solve by simply thinking about it. For instance, curving a bullet by using some ludicrous flailing of your arms -- obviously not possible. Welcome to high school physics. Spinning bullet or steam powered machine gun (a historical build) are far more engaging.

How can you hope to retain viewers when you kick this off your show?

I liked it each time they dropped Buster.

Not nearly as hot as she thinks. Just marginally nerd hot.
