Comedian Robin Williams dies; sheriff investigating as suicide

TIBURON -- Robin Williams, the former College of Marin student who rose to stardom as a comedian and Oscar-winning actor, was found dead Monday at his home in Tiburon.

The cause of death is pending, but the preliminary investigation suggests he died of suicide by asphyxiation, said sheriff's Lt. Keith Boyd, assistant county coroner.

Williams had turned 63 on July 21.

An autopsy was planned for Tuesday.

Williams, a recovering alcoholic, had recently checked into a rehabilitation center, according to news reports. He also had a heart valve operation in 2009.

TVLAND will now show Mork and Mindy reruns basically 24/7. Whenever an actor or actress that is famous and had a hit comedy and ends up passing away TVLAND plays that comedy for weeks.

There is a fine line between his form of comedy and madness, his big influence Jonathan winters suffered a Nervous Breakdown in the 1950s. He looked a lot like that actor who stared in the movie "the Birds" I always thought.

Maybe he died of an accident with autoerotic asphyxiation, and the family thought it would be less humiliating if everyone thought he committed suicide.

I've always liked him but wish he would have done it differently. He was plenty intelligent and creative enough to find out a way & have it not look like suicide.

All the depressed people in the world living very hard lives, they hear a story like this and it brings them totally down. He could be responsible for hundreds of suicides.
