I am so glad I bought a FORD!

GM is sliding back to the crappy worth of asian cars back in the 1970's

Not sure why GM is doing that but building crappy cars is a crappy deal.

GM is fucked. They blew it with the way that they handled the switch recall. Now they've gotten into a cycle of over-compensating and recalling everything which is going to be real hard to get out of. It's just building on itself now. Big bureaucracy meets big government with poor management at the wheel. Good luck.

I've owned Fords, Chevys, Chryslers, Nissans, Hondas and have always been happy with my Fords. Can't say they'd stack up against BMW, Mercedes, Lexus etc., but against the others, no complaint.

The problem with GMs, even after bankruptcy, is that so much of their cost is still to carry the health care for retirees and their families. Even with the restructuring of the agreement.

Ford engine bays have always made me sick. I know the shortest distance between two points is a straight but do they have to prove it with every single hose and wire?

In the last 4 years, GM has recalled more vehicles than it has sold...

Yeah, they've had trouble. They do make some cars which are the best in the world. The Impala and one of the Cadillacs. A lot of their cars are quite good - Cruze, Malibu

It's fucking sad. We have a bunch of chevy cars for work, all are on recall. They put out shit for cars, when it comes time to buy a new fleet of cars, it's not going to be a GM product.

I bought fords and GM in my 20s and 30s. Now I buy toyotas and rarely have to have them serviced. Just oil braks and tires and they will go 250,000 miles.

+1

To add to this, I don't know why people buy unreliable luxury brands like Cadillac, Volvo, Jaguar, and Land Rover. For that money, you can get a Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura that will rarely need to be serviced, and will hold their value as well.

Past decade Ive driven a 1993 Town Car, 1999 Mercedes e320 and a 2004 Volvo V70 2.5T AWD I only buy used cars with one owner that has kept them dealer maintained (painful for them I know). Town Car was reliable (except the window regulators which were spawned from Satan himself) and easiest to work on. The Merc is a rock - I think Ive done an ERG clean, Serpentine, brake switch, one O2 sensor and rear brakes (besides oil changes). Volvos are the least durable of these but my V70 has been good. Ive done just one window regulator and a battery on that (bulbs too and believe me they are not easy on this car).

Major engine defects - that is just poor design. GM knows its producing crap but they market it as American and great - its not. I purchased the Town Car for $800; the Merc for $3,000 and the Volvo was under $10k. Why would anyone go and purchase a new GM vehicle for $$$ and get a car that will be mechanically crap?

My company has always been solid on American made company cars....either GM or Ford for the 25 years Ive been there. We have a prehistoric CEO who always said "it was either American cars or we're walking". Well last year we started leasing Nissans and Toyotas. He put up a big stink but in the end when he looked at the numbers and problems we've had with crappy cars and recalls, he caved.

I had a 2009 Malibu that was the biggest piece of shit I ever drove starting with the day it was delivered with 8 miles on it. I now have a 2013 Fusion but when it reaches 3 years I'll be getting a Nissan or Toyota......Yipppeeee!

i thought Chrystler bought volvo and sold them to another country

they aren't made in Sweden now , but sweden has the metal if they neeed to

-------------------------
all these companies are intertwined stock shares and such now

but it makes a difference where the factories and jobs are

ie, if usa wanted to make iPods they be out of luck if asia stopped making them : all factories are there. infact asians are just going to claim they own it at some point. how you gonna get it back if they do ?

I have owned almost a dozen fine GM cars that ran great with no major problems over 300,000 miles. You guys are just a bunch of American product haters!

Ford is putting some nice stuff out there these days. And of course their truck line will always help them stay above the rest.

Yeah they are better quality than ever before, but those EcoBoost engines have had some reliability problems with the turbos....and SYNC has had a lot of criticism.

Blessed are the murderous.

Speaking about Ford, what happened to Lincoln? It's become one of the most irrelevant car brands today. They should never have killed the Town Car.

Soon Lincoln will go the same way as Mercury! Recent Lincoln models are just upscale, gussied up Fords!
