anti Real ID (dangerous ID) almost victorious in Virginia!

A number of Virginians have been active trying to stop the National Real Id Act of 2005 from negativly effecting Virginia. If enacted Real ID which we call dangerous ID would be put on every drivers license which would be required to travel, to bank, for medical. Some see it to be the Biblical endtime "Mark of the Beast " or could easily lead up to it and don't want it. Others see it a violation of our cival liberties and the 1'st, 4'th and 10'th Amendments.

A special Ron Paul Meetup group was formed headed by Donna Holt who acted as a very effective citizen lobiest. In the house the bill passed 88Yes - 10No - 2Not Votes. and in the Virginia Senate the bill passed 30Yes - 9N o- 1N0 Vote.

This is a great victory for the State and Nation as if signed it will prevent Real ID in a state surrounding DC.

The Governor has to act on this legislation within two weeks. Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano signed similar legislation in her state of Arizona in June of 2008. President Obama has named her the new Secretary of Homeland Security.
. President Obama has publicly spoken out in opposition to this unfunded mandate and has named Governor Napolitano as the new Secretary of Homeland Security.

Twenty-one states have passed legislation opposing the REAL ID Act. Eleven of those states have gone further by passing laws specifically prohibiting compliance with REAL ID.

Citizens are urged to write and email the Govonor so he will sign it into law!

It shows what can be done working with other citizens for the common good. There is hope for America in Virginia!

Sadly our own Deligate Plum voted against the bill in the house and against most of the state.

Well, if the stimulus is supporting illegal immigration for nice and cheap labor as mentioned in a previous thread on this board, then there would be no real reason to even have Real ID since it would not be good for anything anyway. So it should be shot down!

first off, as discussed in previous paranoid threads, Real ID is not a card or card design. Real ID is a set of security standards that need to be implemented on ID cards. second, you already need ID to travel, open a bank account and to get medical insurance.

the ONLY thing that is changed by this is ID cards from states with crappy/no security standards. how is fixing this gap in security "dangerous"?

i read their objections on the site, and none of them seem legitimate or even well founded. the makers of the site do not appear to understand what Real ID really is and how it would compare to the _current_ system in place. name something specific or stfu.

FAA reports data breach. If the FAA has breaches, will real ID imfo be secure? Real ID is very specific and if breached be more harmful and harm more individuals. We've already had other breaches. The more 'impregnable" data lists the more breaches and compromised we all are. Not mentioning the tendency of totalarian states to institute identification. We've all seen WW2 movies where the Nazie train conductor asks, "Ver ARE your identification." We'll all be standing in long lines cursing the day real ID was instituted. And when it was instituted it was voted on without any debate. Where there has been debate so far 22 states have instituted legislation that would circumvent the federal act. In Virginia the anti Real ID passed by a landslide. President Obama has indicated he is against it and appointed Governor of Arizona Janet Napolitano and Obama has made her head of Homeland Security.

Very sloppily. The interstate reporting system is kind of a joke. I know a guy who went to New Mexico, and got pulled over. He knew he had warrant out for his arrest on an assault charge in Maryland, and he drove away with merely a speeding ticket.

sounds like their system could use some upgrading! perhaps real id could push that along.

Jake and Elwood are in the car, and go through a yellow traffic light. Police lights flash in the rear view mirror.]

Elwood: Shit!
Jake: What?
Elwood: Rollers.
Jake: No?
Elwood: Yeah.
Jake: Shit.

[Elwood pulls over as directed and an officer approaches the car.]

Elwood: What? What did I do?
Officer Daniel: You failed to stop at a red signal.
Elwood: The light was yellow sir.
Officer Daniel: May I see your license please?

[He takes the license back to the squad car.]

Jake: Goddamnit!
Elwood: Man I haven't been pulled over in six months. I bet those cops have got SCMODS.
Jake: SCMODS?
Elwood: State, County, Municipal, Offender, Data, System.

[The two officers return to Jake and Elwood's car.]

Officer Daniel: Elwood, we show your license currently under suspension. Step out of the car please.

[Elwood starts the car and drives off. The officers run back to their car and follow.]

Jake: First you trade the Caddilac for a microphone, then you lie to me about the band, now you're gonna put me right back in the joint.
Elwood: They're not gonna catch us. We're on a mission from God.

If you were 'pro-freedom' and did your research, you would understand. You're obviously one of 'them' anyway!

Maybe your mom should have aborted you!..."Mr.Pro-abortion, not pro-choice"!
