Fleetwood Mac has some really good older stuff. they are also the source of the Judas Priest song "Green Manalishi (with the 2 Pronged Crown)"

Check out any of their albums before Buckingham and Nicks joined the band. Good bluesy stuff.

Meades hit single "Sweet Tea" was also a cover.

Here is what the original version sounded like until Meade polished it up and improved on it.

Winger, you should recognize the drummer and bass player.

Nice, didn't know BCC broke up. Love power trios and GH and JB are a good fit.

Playing in NYC last day in May at the Gramercy Theater, whcih I didn't know had been turned into a Live Nation concert venue. Never been inside the place but it's a great neighborhood.

Love to hear their setlist, if it has some GH era DP and any Zep tunes, I may hit it.

Both songs are pretty horrible

160,000 views compared to Meade's 1600 views...

Meade's numbers really are pathetic.

Song I didn't know was a cover:

Warning by Black Sabbath

When I was growing up a lot of kids thought "Walk This Way" was a Run DMC song, not Aerosmith. Same thing with Marilyn Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics, and that was only like 10 years later.

The Tool song "Sober" is not really a cover, but it's a re-write of a song Maynard Keenan wrote when he was in an earlier, hilarious band called C.A.D.

Tool's version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hglVqACd1C8

C.A.D. version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdREH1BqGDk

Note Eddie Murphy look-alike on bass LOL.

I heard a rumor that Jimi Hendrix didn't actually write The Star-Spangled Banner.

He didn't write it but...I think we can all agree it's "his" song now. Fuck you, Frank Key!

Amazing, I've known that song for 35 yrs and never knew that. Sounds too 12 bar blues for Sabbath, but I wrote it off as being their debut.

Great drums on the orig.

Sabbath definitely made it their own, turned it nice and dark. And I think Ozzy misread the original lyrics and changed them a little bit, making it more creepy-sounding. Geezer's bass in the intro is so evil-sounding.

I love that whole album side starting with "Wicked World" and that jazzy drumming.

The whole first 4 or 5 Sabbath albums pretty much rip. We had a whole thread about it about 2 years ago until embedding went away and killed 80% of the posts...

Here's another obscure one if you don't remember the 80s:

Venus by Bannanarama:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkcU2_Vs7Xw

This is actually a cover of a song by a 60s band I never heard of called Shocking Blue, whose singer was hotter than all three Bannanarama chicks combined. And the music is much better, too, more rock and less 80s shit noise, even though it's the same chords and melody it's played with real instruments.

Venus by Shocking Blue :

The singer in 1970:

Sadly her later photos showed she plumped up quite a bit, then she died of cancer in 2006.
