Building a U.S. Army of 125,000 Spartans

In this age of budgetary and strategic uncertainty, the best course of action is to radically transform the Army by cutting the number of active-duty personnel by more than 75% to 125,000.

For this plan to work, the new Army requires the best 125,000 warfighters, thinkers, managers, and public servants possible. Attracting acceptable candidates will require competing with the industries that lure America’s best and brightest after college. This means much higher pay: $100,000 per year for an E-5, $200,000 per year for an O-1, $500,000 per year for an O-6, etc.

Selection for basic training and officer candidate school (OCS) slots should resemble Harvard admissions rates, and the physical rigors of basic training and formation should be closer to NFL training camps.


Warriors should commit to 10-year enlistments and 15-year commissions


“Tiger moms” should be talking their 1.8 children out of medical school and into OCS.

I Googled and found the author. He's J. Furman Daniel, III and
other than some academic credentials I can't find any evidence
he's ever been through BCT let alone wear combat boots. Sounds
like an Armchair General with a lot of imagination. How much are
we going to pay the cooks, bakers, and candlestick makers?

We have something called the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean to defend us. Next we have easily 100 million armed to the teeth civilians. Next we have several thousand thermonuclear weapons that can nuke every inch of this planet.

I actually love this idea.

One of the reasons why I didn't join the U.S. military is already known on this forum: my rich libtard hippy parents threatened to cut me off from my inheritance.

But that alone wasn't enough to stop me from following through with my desire to get into an elite special operations unit.

The pussification of our military, the retarded and pointless Marxist goals of trying to nation build rather than slaughter and colonize, and the huge numbers of degenerates within the U.S. military (even in the elite special operations units) is what ultimately killed my desire to sign up.

If something similar to the ancient Spartans existed today, I'd happily toss my silver spoon and join.

Oh, I forgot to explain why this will never happen, though. Such an army would be impossible to control. They'd end up taking over any society that allowed them to exist. Which is fine by me. But that's not a desired outcome by the current powers that be and the masses of soft liberal weaklings and low-IQ and shit-skinned retards that would become modern Helots.

TALOS - Learn it. 7.62 bounce off the current BA unless they are straight on and then they often don't fully penetrate. With the new BA coming online in the next 5 years, small arms fire will be like rubber bands. It's going to take new small arm weapons to take out US warfighters in the next decade because AK's aren't going to cut it anymore.

With the new BA coming online in the next 5 years, small arms fire will be like rubber bands. It's going to take new small arm weapons to take out US warfighters in the next decade because AK's aren't going to cut it anymore.

The U.S. mainland will never be attacked unless it is from the small arms fire of Mexican drug lords. Instead, the U.S. mainland has to keep its eyes open for ICBMs from Iran or north Korea. Or, even a suitcase nuke from some Allah-inspired mecca-facing Muslim.

After WWII, the Army was gutted because everyone thought nuclear weapons and the Air Force was the future. Then the Korean War happened and showed why we needed an Army.
After the Vietnam War, the Army was gutted and then in the late 70s/early 80s the country was desperate to match Soviet strength. When the Cold War ended, we started gutting the Army and then the Persian Gulf war happened. Every generation has a cycle of downsizing, then expansion due to some unseen threat.


Now with Putin empire building and China wanting to be a global superpower, and North Korea becoming more erratic, we can't afford to cut back on any branch of the military.

Also, people are talking today about the Navy being the future, others say the Air Force is the future. You still need boots on the ground, lots of them, when the shit hits the fan. You can't do everything from the sky or sea.

Then people ask why we have an Army when the Marine Corps is more deployable and mobile. The Marines are naval infantry, they are for amphibious warfare. They are not trained or organized for long term, sustained ground warfare.

During WWII the Japanese generals were very hesitant about the possibility
of a land invasion of the USA due to their perception that virtually everyone had firearms and the casualty rate would be enormous.

Vietnam - Lost
Iraq I - Victory
Iraq II - Lost

None of those countries mattered then nor now. Mind our own fucking business. North Korea would never attack the US. The leadership there live better than anybody. They know their super luxury lifestyle would be over in an instant if they attacked the US. Get yourself another boogeyman to justify our wasteful military spending.
