There's only two things that will actually lower the incidence and bloodshed of these events:
1. All guns owned privately disappeared tomorrow. No private citizen can carry or own a weapon.
or
2. All gun-free zones, public or private, disappeared tomorrow. All citizens can carry anywhere, anytime.
I don't think either one will ever happen.

It is just a matter of time before handguns are banned, I think that is a future reality we all pretty much accept. Every incident like this Fort Hood thing only helps it to come to a quicker fruition.

As I understand it, the shooter arrived @ Ft Hood three weeks ago.
He's from Puerto Rico.

He is originally from Puerto Rico, and was at one point in the Puerto Rican National Guard (lol). Looks like he went active Army in the past three or four years.
