Apparently its terrible!

I am going to NYC to see for myself.

It's a =500= seat restaurant in Times Square, of all places.

That is to say, a joint set up for tourists - LOTS of tourists.

It'll make millions...after the wrinkles of a new place are ironed out.

It is probably going head to head with places like the Hard Rock Cafe, a place not exactly known for gourmet food.

Heck, with the food I've had at most chain restaurants (Chili's, Applebee's, etc.) the bar for the average American isn't very high.

It's no secret Guy's venture is a feeding trough for the tourist masses and Guy's name is on the marquee, but that's about it, you'll never see him in the kitchen or walking the floor.

The slickee boys fleecing the wide-eyed tourists at this joint run a couple of other cafeteria-type mega restuarants in NYC.

Enjoy the money Guy, I guess you've earned it...sorta.

Guy is a douchebag personified and it seems that this restaurant caters to frat boy doucebaggery just like his awful, lowest common denominator television program. First there is no way that you can run a 500 seat restaurant with table service and made to order food. This is cafeteria size dining with commissary logistical support for lots of premaid food. In other words...SHIT!!!!!

I've been there, its terrible, the people are terrible, whatever culture comes out of it is terrible.

I forget where I saw this, but someone wrote an article criticizing why anyone bothered to even review this restaurant at all since it is not much different from the Bubba Gump Shrimp or Olive Garden in Times Square.

The review itself is actually pretty funny and I would not be surprised if the assessment is 90-95% spot on. Guy Fieri is a "star" because Food Network likes big personalities and not necessarily because of their outstanding skills in the kitchen (see Ray, Rachel).

Alton Brown is quirky with a niche, but not over exposed. Bobby Flay has some very good food concepts and balances between showman and restauranteur. But there are a lot of great chefs/cooks you will never see (or at least often) except on programs like Chopped or Top Chef.

Personally, I like Anthony Bourdain's honesty, although my palate is not quite that adventurous.

An ex-friend of mine went to see Guy in DC last year. Thought he was awesome.
Anyone who is a fan of Guy Ferry (that's his real name according to wikipedia) is not cool in my book! I totally agree, food network is just all about getting big personalities. Guy Ferry's food looks terrible, and his "in it to win it" tude really blows my mind! How do people like this joker??

At least Carnegie Deli has good food. But they must have an obscene amount of waste. Their sandwiches are HUGE and impossible to finish. Each of those things could feed a family of four, with leftovers.

And as if that isn't enough...they don't let you split ANY plates! The staff are about as friendly as a cactus in the rectum. Yes, the food is good but, these guys do business on their reputation from the past and not the current reality.
