we do a shit ton of drone stikes with Hellfire missiles. Actually bombing is pretty rare now that the Iraq war is over. We bombed the fuck out of Iraq during both wars to a near biblical scale. But those wars are over.
In North Africa we have AC130 "Spectre" gunships that pop up on terrorists groups/caravans there that is pretty savage a Specter gunship will wipe out entire city blocks in one swipe.
Im sure the ever advancing reaper drones also deliver some kind of advanced bomb as well. SDB's(small diameter bomb)is what they are called I believe. they are designed to penetrate through cover then explode but the use of those seems in the minority. Hellfires are accurate as hell, they are supersonic you dont hear them coming and have visual and infra red sensors in the nose that work with the operator to ensure target verification and DAMN do they blow the F up!
I believe the latest reaper drones carry 8 to 12 Hellfires now. Come a long way from the first Predators that could only carry 2.
Oblahblah has killed more muslims via drone strikes than W ever did.
SO...to sum up there are regions of the world where killing extremist threats is necessary. Russia does more actual bombing of other countries than anyone else at the moment with the Ukraine and Syria situation and they do a hell of a good job at it they dont seem to care about collateral damage.

Sure the US has blown up weddings by accident etc. but it was actually an accident. ISIS strikes out at easy soft targets with lots of regular people to terrify and it works for them.
ISIS agents and other extremist pan islamic jihadists are now permeated throughout Europe. It is just a matter of time before the anti islamic backlash begins in Europe and it will be ugly bitter and brutal. The Europeans will only take so much before shit goes to hell.
My opinion is that todays attacks in Belgium are just the start of a larger more devastating operation that will most likely once again tear France a new one again with the threat of attacks in Germany(they have taken in the most "refugees").
Belgium is a prime target because it is home to NATO HQ and Belgium has some huge role in defining the value of the Euro. Aside from that its a tiny nation next to France. Even the French can only take so much. France suffers yet another siege and they may actually go wipe out the ISIS "nests" in Syria and Iraq by themselves. The French military is no damn joke and is capable of doing this.
Germany, terrified of its Nazi past would have to be under total siege to actually deploy their big extremely good military against ISIS.
The Iraqi Army has a full battalion of new Abrams tanks with crews trained in the US. These Iraqi Abrams tanks keep Iran and ISIS from coming further south. They basically protect Baghdad. These Iraqi Abrams tanks could easily roll north and just crush ISIS in Iraq in a week or two. That would leave Baghdad open to attack though so the Abrams are kept around the city.
ISIS/ISIL need to be wiped out. No massive invasion is needed either to do it its just that retaking Mosul would leave an appalling number of innocent people dead. The areas in Syria that are ISIS strongholds are full of mostly ISIS fighters the innocents fled awhile ago or were killed by the Syrian gvt.
So what do we do? Best thing to do is cut the head off the snake by taking out el Baghdadi the ISIS leader. Forget trying to capture him just Seal Team 6 his ass. Identify his top lieutenants and bag them too. The resulting loss of governance would leave the caliphate eating its own.
So OP yes the US does take out threats around the world pretty much every day.
