When will VA hop on the bandwagon and legalize weed?

It's a cash cow... considering that's all the good ole gov't cares about it shouldn't be too long. I think i remember reading somewhere that it wasn't illegal in VA until something like 1977.

I'd rather let the potheads fund the schools instead of my already broke ass.

The only reason it's not legal is because it's been stigmatized as a gateway drug. Once legalized, people will see how it really is and the stigma will go away, but that kinda leaves you with a Catch 22.

You're not even a cool President unless you've done a little blow.

You need to get big tobacco on board. Have them make the product. Tobacco farmers now grow the weed. Moving out of the hydroponic will present quality issues, but big tobacco's scientists could solve those. They have distro systems, quality control, etc. Tax the shit out of it.

Bam.

As late as 1971, in the Commonwealth of Virginia the minimum penalty for possessing more than 25 grams of marijuana was 20 years, the same as The minimum penalty for first-degree murder.

And thing aren't much better today. Just a simple misdemeanor pot possesion charge in VA (WITH NO PREVIOUS RECORD AT ALL!) will get you a mandatory 6 month driver's license suspension (Ohio is the ONLY other state out of 50 to do this), you will have to volunteer 24 hours of your time and enter into an expensive ASAP program that could cost you thousands of dollars. This is a worse penalty then you would have gotten in the 1980's or 1990's. VIRGINIA is going backwards.

So don't hold your breath for legalization. Virginia (especially Fairfax County) is in the business of passing new laws, NOT weakening old ones. It is THE FOURTH REICH, so get used to it!! Of course, I guess those ASAP classes and dashboard breathalyzer devices net the state and county quite a pretty penny so don't expect it to stop anytime soon. Afterall, we direly need more synthetic high school football fields.... LORD I AM GLAD I GOT THE FUCK OUTTA THERE....

It's not a cash cow in the long run since it's been proven to lower IQ and cause cancer in peer reviewed scientific studies... And IQ correlates with all kinds of important real-world socioeconomic statistics like academic performance, crime, job performance and health. Potheads are widely known for having all kinds of social problems even in places where it's legal.

Meanwhile, gangs will still be pushing other illegal drugs and the police will still be chasing them and throwing them in jail. So, the supposed social benefits of legalizing weed is retarded propaganda that only libtards (including libertarians and faux-conservative moderate Republicans) are stupid enough to believe.

But to answer your question: soon. Western civilization is in a downward spiral of trashy behavior. Trying to preach the importance of morality to people these days is like trying to convince black people that the transatlantic slave trade was the best thing that ever happened to their race. Even though it's obviously true, people just don't want to hear it...

I see. This means that the push by Liberals for legalization is two-fold:

1) They see a very worthy target for new tax revenue.

2) They can dumb-down another large group of citizens, which then turns into votes for them.

The Devils lettuce is already a cash cow for the county and many Lawyers and the hundreds of people who work in the substance abuse counseling industry as well as bail bonding agents. Drug (mostly weed) possession and DUI is what really pays the bills around here. If weed were legal we would have to find something else to replace it with.
I remember years ago when DUI's were way down and we were having trouble filling our courtrooms our lawmakers helped us out by lowering the BAC limit to .08 instead of .10. That made everything better.

Ummm TAX, that will help a lot. Not to mention lawyers/courts/cops are still going to be needed for weed related offense. DUI(Weed), underage, bootlegging, ect. In the end you might loose a bit of money, but it's not anything crazy.

Yes, because there are no weed related cases clogging up the courts already.
