Gov. O'Malley's Lovely Job in Maryland and the Foreclosure Rate

It appears Gov. O'Malley is doing an excellent job in Maryland on running the state. It sort of mirrors what's happening at the federal level for America. His Lt. Governor (Mr. Brown), had the job of overseeing their healthcare network marketplace that was built and started up -- only to face a bigger failure debacle that the one at the federal level for America.

Now, we hear that foreclosure rates in Maryland are really starting to spike. They try to point at the change in foreclosure processes as the blame for the rise. Yet, just maybe the horrendous economy might be to blame? Just typical Liberal news coverage of burying the truth once again.

They'll just blame it on those evil banks and call for more onerous regulation and looser credit standards.

Then in short order they'll wonder why the banks aren't making mortgages any more and they'll find a way to call it discrimination.

So they'll need to set minimum targets (read: quotas) for lending to select "disadvantaged" groups in certain areas. It will be zip code based, matched with census data (no tax data since nearly 100% of the people in those zip codes pay no taxes anyhow, but that's just details).

The banks will lose even more money and exit the Maryland mortgage market altogether.

But that's fine as the Dem governor and Dem legislature will "never let a crisis go to waste" and create a government-backed lending program to replace what the banks had previously done with market efficiency and something as close to fair as possible.

And the lending program will be used to drive other agendas as well as conditions to lending. They'll have rules for getting loans that enforce laws they cannot actually pass even through a Dem legislature; crazy laws based on fake climate science and demographic harmonization and so-called public health. It will come to the point where only the most desperate will use the program and only the wealthiest will be able to actually buy a home, with cash of course.

And as to be expected with every Dem Great Society scheme, the program will be perennially broke and subject to corruption and fraud and never really meet the ambitious goals set out for it. Within five years the next generation of politicos will be running on a platform of reform for the program as it's never been given a real chance since Republicans never wholly endorsed it: they must have put a hex on it.

And that's perfectly okay because the Dem politicos who put it in place will be long gone by the time the fall out occurs. They'll have used it as a model to the nation in their bid for national office and attempt to replicate it across the land through HUD and 49 other state housing offices.

The banks are completely in bed with the federal government. They are running (and ruining) this country. The bankers tend to support democrats because democrats are better for their business, but republicans aren't much better. Both parties suck. We need a new party that represents middle America and the middle class and not the big monies on the coasts and the super rich and chronically poor.

"...not the big monies on the coasts and the super rich and chronically poor"

Unfortunately it's the big monies that essentially buy the votes of the poor that have us in this mess.

What would really be helpful, but never fly, is to require that one actually pays income taxes in order to be allowed to vote. Since much of what government does is budget related and most revenue comes from income taxes (individuals and businesses) then it makes sense that those footing the bill should have more say. But that of course will smack of disenfranchisement. And the poor will just keep voting for more government hand-outs that someone else will pay for.

This is essentially what the founders did when they only allowed men with property to vote. They figured it was they who would shoulder the brunt of new federal programs, entitlements, wars and the cost of government. You are right, it will never happen. The mantra of "one man, one vote" has become ingrained in the national psyche.
