I tried without a cat. A bit faster but I usually need more punctuation for programming so I never get to go this fast IRL.

The last time I tested was 92 wpm but I cut my teeth
on a teletype machine in the Army many years ago and
wpm really meant something because the faster you type
the faster you cleared message traffic. This means
more breaks from the routine. Wpm doesn't always mean
accuracy though depending which test you're taking.
I'm skeptical of anyone who says they can go over 100
wpm though because the standard keyboard designed by
IBM that most of use use will most likely jam and produce
garbled trash.

On a slightly related note, I can no longer use anything other than a thinkpad since I don't have to leave the home row on the keyboard thanks to the nipple mouse (sometimes called trackpoint). Still the throw on the keys is fairly short on these thinkpads -- I do prefer buckling spring but my office mates don't like my clickety-clack northgate keyboard.
