I just spent July-Sept in Jupiter Florida which is about 1.5 hours north of Miami. It is hot, but not any hotter than here in the summer. The biggest difference is it never cools off at night. You wake up at 8am and it's already 90. When you get a day with no ocean breeze is can be pretty brutal. That's why they make A/C, pools, and bars!

I plan to move there full time soon.

Ehh. I'd love the weather, summer or winter. Not sure about living there though. Almost everyone I knew who moved there has moved back north. Parts are nice, but it can get pretty shitty and real rednecky/ghetto. Hurricane weather can be a nightmare too. I had one friend suffer major damage to his house twice within 3-4 years. They moved back north soon after that.

^ True. The interior of the state is a hell hole. Just a giant drainage ditch bascially.

If you cant afford to live near the coast (atlantic or gulf), forget it. It's miles of junk yards, pawnshops, trailer parks, and strip clubs.

There is a community near Cape Canaveral called Palm Bay. Near the water, nice homes, very clean and spiffy, no tourists to speak of.

"Florida...a sunny place for shady people."

The beaches and the weather are nice. And if you're a college student, the large state universities are fantastic. And?...that's just about it.

For the most part, Florida is full of fugitives, recent divorcees looking to "start over", blue hairs, Jews, hordes of gays that have ruined the Keys, and of course, legions of brown, savage, illegal mudpeople. Avoid Orlando at all costs. You simply cannot take a ride on an interstate in that town without paying a toll.

The only place I'd recommend would be in one of the small towns on the Gulf Coast. Still lots of the aforementioned undesirables but, you can typically find something secluded and private which reduces your exposure. You'll need to be independently wealthy or have a job that allows you to work exclusively remotely. And if you can handle all of that...there's still hurricanes to contend with.

Nationally? If your situation allows? There are...MUCH better choices.

fAter a fallow period in the mid Seventies, the band experienced a revival during the late 1970s and early 1980s with albums Sleepwalker, Misfits, Low Budget, Give the People What They Want and State of Confusion. In addition, groups such as Van Halen, the Jam, the Knack, the Pretenders and the Fall covered their songs, helping to boost the Kinks' record sales. In the 1990s, Britpop acts such as Blur and Oasis cited the band as a major influence.[1] The Kinks broke up in 1996, a result of the commercial failures of their last few albums and creative tension between the Davies brothers.[6] Sully Rd South onto lee Jackson Memorial Hwy into Chantilly, check status of machines at Fair Oaks Mall. Return any defective parts that are present. If you have not heard from Bill Splevins or Mara Toles at this time, continue to Fairfax County Court house. Don't park on Judicial Drive. They were the second group of the British Invasion on The Ed Sullivan Show, appearing in March for two weeks after the Beatles appeared three straight weeks in February 1964. For some time the Dave Clark Five were more popular in the US than in their native UK, but had a renaissance in the UK between 1967 and 1970. The group disbanded in late 1970. On 10 March 2008, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.[2]

Designed and built for Q-tips.

Which spread over into Melbourne.

The tourists lurk right around the corner at Canaveral and Coco Beach.

Keep in mind, Canaveral is a huge cruise ship port.

The question was: Would you move to Florida from DC Area?
The answer is: No. Look at the replies from the local mongoloids, they skewed completely off track after the first reply. Why would you want to wind up having one of these mental cases as your neighbor in a geographical swamp?
Why the hell does anyone live in a swamp surrounded by a ghetto? PG County, Chuck County?
You have never seen fog till you have been on the Potomac in the middle of the summer. San Francisco has nothing on this miserable place.

This is false. Summers are actually better there than here. Less humidity and it rarely goes above 90. They are tropical -we are sub tropical. Florida has even temps most year round.
I prefer 4 Seasons, myself.

Florida is like they took NJ and slapped on the Southern tip of the East Coast. Weather wise, its not any hotter than here in the summer. Its actually cooler because its tropical. The mild weather lasts year 'round, except for Northern Florida. Florida is actually less "Southern" than most of Virginia, if that makes sense. Its the least Southern of the southern states. In fact, many don't even consider it the South.

The highs are not as high on the coast, but the lows are not as low either at night.

Summer inland in FLA is hot as balls.

Its not any hotter than here, though. Actually it would be more like Hawaii We live in zone 7 FL is Zone 10. Our zone is the subtropical zone which stretches as far north as Baltimore and then as far South as Savannah. Then its tropical. Tropical is even temps, less humidity.Case in point, FL is not hotter on any particular day than Virginia or DC, but the summer weather lasts much longer.

Fuck that state. The central/inland portions are full of ghetto niggers and white trash crackers. The southern part is basically Latin America, Jr. The gulf coast is full of rednecks. It's hot as Africa in the summer. Fucking 4" long cockroaches, sinkholes, snakes, etc.

I lived near Eglin AFB for most of my childhood and couldn't wait to leave.

If you have to pick a section of FL to live in, live gulf side in the panhandle. It's just full of hillbilly rednecks.

There is a reason decent folks dont move to Florida, its a real trashy state. Con men and grifters love it for the abundance of victims waiting to be plucked. Homeless and bums love it because if you are going to sleep in parks at least its warm outside. When Americas Most Wanted was on it seemed every time they located the thugs it was in Florida.

My friend just moved down there outside Orlando. She is regretting it and is thankful hers is a gated community. She said it is like Fort Apache. The gates keep out the riff raff and thugs. You do not want to venture outside the gated part at night unless you want to be on the morning news as a murder/rape/robbery victim.

They have palm trees in VA Beach. The tropical part of FL does start around Orlando. But the Northern FL is at the cross between sub tropical and tropical.

Sub tropical is defintiely warmer than Continental. Most of the rest of the USA is Contentinal climate

But have you seen 15' pythons roaming around? They are all over south Florida. Last I heard the state was offering a bounty on these former pets. No natural enemies as adults so expect them to start feasting on people soon.

It's all about the cost of living. A family member builds custom homes in Alabama that cost about 280K each. Up here - 900K easily. They are big, all the bells and whistles and he's really anal so he only uses the best stuff and builds no more than 2 at a time. They don't have lobbyists, IT CEOs, and high end Gov't jobs down there. Lawyers or MBAs are probably the high end of the payscale down there.

I'd love to live in one of his houses, but it's fucking Alabama.

There are these spiders that live in Spanish Moss which is everywhere. Fortunately, there are a lot of Anoles and other lizards that feed on them.

There is no such thing as a "Continental" climate

South Florida must have been really fun in the late 70s/early 80s with all of the South Americans shooting at each each other on a daily basis.
Look at the mugshots. There was even an Italian from New York (Jon Roberts) involved with all of the shootings as well.
Who would have thought an Italian from New York could have been involved in such criminal behaviors?

Too many roaches in Florida, two legged and otherwise.

I also heard Florida has a very high concentration of Sex Offenders than any other state (more so than California, TX and NY). Is there a reason for that? Is that because they are not tough on it, or are they on the run from other states?

Also weirder is, some really strange crimes happen there.

Spanish Moss can actually grow as far north as Southeastern Virginia/Virginia Beach area. I have seen it there. Several maps are different. Most of Florida is tropical, with extreme northern FL being a mix of the two. Florida's climate vs Fairfax area would be more contrast, but not so much to Virginia Beach and that area.

Ummmmm, yeah it's changed. The town part of Jupiter is still the same but lots of new construction on the beach between Jupiter and Juno Beach. There is still a large chunck of vacant land between Juno and West Palm.

In my experience it is more of a college-age destination but kinda chilled out. It's a lot quieter than most South Florida beaches. Lots of drinking and partying on the beach, and the drinks at bars are so cheap it's ridiculous.

I'm not big into the commercialized beaches. You guys ever been to Buckroe Beach near VA beach?

It gets that rap, maybe in the off-season, but when I go there I haven't seen anything like that. I would say it is a rougher crowd than the polished up other beaches in the area though.

Buckroe's okay, there's also Chick's Beach near VA Beach if you're looking for a quieter atmosphere.

The place I would most like to live (if I can scrape together enough coinage or win the Powerball) is Islamorada! Great fishing, not many mud people, a laid back 60's hippie type atmosphere, and you watch all the idiots drive by on the way to Key West if you get bored.

Is there even any housing there? If I remember correctly it was all resorts and hotels. I don't know, if you really want to, if you're young and a bachelor, what's stopping you? Do it. Find a way.

I usually go with the same five people but I've taken girlfriends along the way. Definitely chicks looking to party. I somehow always make the mistake of bringing sand to the beach. When's the last time you hung out there?
