He had a song back in the 70's from the Valentine album called Forbidden Fruit. I often wondered what was going on in that song, but it must be about that girl.

Here is the song played by some other dude.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wwKyKheDz8

Here are the lyrics

Baby, won't you play with me ?
Games that no one else can see ?
Leanin' over out my window
Flashing me a mini flower show

Steal away from mummy, oh there's my little girl
On the pillow of my tummy give my hair a curl
Run your fingers under and over, make us a little pool
And don't forget about tomorrow in the same place after school.

Baby, make me calm your fears
Let me hold your thirteen years
In between the silky, love me
Race my heart and let ……….

Oh baby I can feel you, see my thunderburst
Melting us together in the plains of magic thirst
We can be forever and ever, watching the water fall
Floating in the lake of all peace after love and after all.

We can be forever and ever, watching the water fall
Floating in the lake of all peace after love and after all.

During his trial he'll be accused of showing feelings, showing feelings of an almost human nature.

Say what? "Have A Cigar" is on 'Wish You Were Here'. "The Trial" is on 'The Wall'.

No, it was originally on the "Have A Cigar EP", released on their european imprint label, "Roy Harper Records". They played it at SXSW a few years ago, you probably never heard about it.

Uh oh. We got a badass hipster all up in here...he used the lethal "you probably never heard about it" missile. What the FUCK am I gonna' do NOW!?!?!?

I know!

Hey Meeper, why don't you go back down to your room....errrr, I mean your parents basement? Don't worry, Mommy will be down soon to smother your genitals with marshmallow while Daddy plays hide-the-nine-iron in your ass and then watches you lick your own shit off the end of it. Then you can all watch "Woody Woodpecker" together...

I pride myself on knowing my 70's rock trivia and I always thought the vocals on "Have a Cigar" were by the guy from the Crazy World of Arthur Brown. I would have bet the farm on that I was so confident.

It is Roy Harper.

Arthur Brown did vocals on Alan Parsons and the movie version of "Tommy". I don't know how I got the idea it was him on WYWH!

I really always thought that was Gilmour singing in a different tone of voice.

Never knew who Roy Harper was, I always figured it was Zepp giving a shout-out to some old delta blues guy.

Roy Harper is hugely revered in the UK, kinda like Long John Baldry and John Mayall. None of these guys could fill Jammin Java here, but they are considered music legends by the limeys.

Roy Harper has some pretty good songs. He plays with Jimmy Page a lot and the two of them play great together. He is known for never caving in to record companies to make 3 minute pop songs. He's had a pretty strange life, not unlike Ginger Baker. He co-wrote Short and Sweet with Gilmour and sang it with him on tour.

He never really made any epic albums, but every album has a few good songs.
