Hurray! A good democrat who is going to ban Assault weapons is finally going to be the Governor. I can imagine psycho gun owners are going bananas right now knowing their guns will soon be taken away. This is such great news for the State and all of us who worked hard at trying to ban these guns meant for war and not hunting. Enjoy them while you still have them because soon enough they will finally be rid out of the hands of the mentally disturbed common firearm owner.

If this happens in good ole Virginia, the response will be overwhelming. Bubba's and Thelma's will crawl out their barns statewide. They tried it in Colorado - both senators were recalled and told to sit the fuck down. It just cant happen here. Bubba says no.

The military and law enforcement most often use AUTOMATIC rifles. Civilians most often use semi-automatic rifles. The FACT that you don't know, or care about the difference, doesn't make the distinction trivial.
Assault Rifles = automatics are ALREADY banned, unless a qualified purchaser, ie someone who qualifies to purchase a SEMI-automatic, passes higher level scrutiny from his State Police and the BATFE, and pays a $200 tax ABOVE and beyond getting a single shot or semi-automatic firearm.
Statist hysteria and fond hopes to the contrary, firearms won't be "taken away" anytime soon. Two reasons. There are only two ways to repeal the Second Amendment, by 75% of the states ratifying the repeal or by a majority in a Constitutional Convention.
Mere legislative fiat DOES NOT suffice to do that. Eventually the "confiscate them a nibble at a time" will face a constitutional challenge that will stop the infringement.
