The man's a successful 4-star general who completely reinvented the way we fought the wars in the Middle East and improved the intelligence community of the United States.

Back in the day, a respected and capable military leader like this would have had society throwing women at him because of his accomplishments. Now, he's stripped of his job and his legacy is tainted because he banged the hot author and people think all he deserves is the bus driver-looking granny he's married to.

There's an old movie " A Guide For the Married Man". A very funny movie about how to cheat on one's wife. One of the lessons was don't mess with anyone who doesn't have as much as to lose as you.

Here's what I don't get...

You're David Fucking Petraeus...you're the head of the CIA and you married someone who though I'm sure is a nice person, isn't much to look at and isn't pleasing to you sexually. These fucking "warriors" always talk about what good men they are so...

Why can't guys like this sit their wives down and say, "Honey...you're not gettin' it done for me anymore. There's someone in my life that I'd like to stick my dick into a few times so, I'mma gonna' go and do that." You don't ask her, you just tell her.

How could a wife of a man like this be in any position to do anything about it? What? You wanna' divorce? Fine.

But to just go behind her back like this was just really dumb. She's going to clean him out financially. She has no incentive to stay with him.

I really don't condone cheating and what-not, but seriously. You're General Petraeus. You are making decisions on a daily basis that could alter the course of a war, cost a number of American lives, allow another terrorist attack... A ridiculous, crazy amount of responsibility and stress. You're a prime target for enemies across the globe. You're deployed to the ass-end of the world to do your duty.

All that officer and gentleman stuff is pure crap. In my much younger days I was a barback at an officers club. The place was loaded with Asian hookers the officers would be tapping day and night. The officers were obnoxious drunks and cheap tippers.
By no means an indicator of all officers but certainly 99% of those who visted the club.

Military culture has always had a love/hate relationship with affairs, too. Some hardship TDYs (where you deploy solo and can't take your family) are jokingly referred to as "Temporary Divorce for a Year." It's not a huge secret that deployment usually leads to one of the spouses having an affair.

Everyone talks about it with a wink and a nudge, but if that dirty laundry ever gets aired, everyone lines up to put in their "tsk tsk." It's not like they condone cheating, they just look down on getting caught cheating.

Really??? Everyone is under stress, including Patraeus's wife. Many men have wives who've gotten **shudder** older - as has he. And Patraeus is no stud, to put it mildly. Tough shit. If you can't keep it in your pants, then don't take the top job at the CIA and pretend to be a role model to the people below you.

Patraeus fell for a woman who gives every indication of being an opportunist with a big mouth (no pun intended). What does that say about his judgment? And if he's willing to betray the closest person in the world to him, who else could he betray? I am tired of men excusing other men and blaming wives for the fact that they cheat.

And before you go there - cause I know someone will - I'm not an aggrieved wife, nor a lesbian, nor a troll.

I should add that my time as a barback I also met a few officers who were stand up guys. The majority were front line combat officers from Vietnam, I told you I was old. They treated the officers club employees pretty good, tipped well and didnt talk down to you like the REMFs that haunted most DC OC.
