Quit drinking 16 years ago...
I saw my nephew, right after being born, and promised him I would be there for him...walked into a rehab' center a week later.
Three years later another nephew was born - I helped raise them, lived with them for 8 years (Their real dad is not around) and they are two of my best friends, as well as, the two people that helped me understand unconditional love for he first time in my life.
I will never forget the many many adventures of my drinking days, but also will never forget the torture of the addiction.
NOTE* I am not anti-drinking / drugs...if a person can use their drug of choice and keep their life in order, more power to them.
I saw my nephew, right after being born, and promised him I would be there for him...walked into a rehab' center a week later.

Usually a beer or two a night. I tend to favor IPAs, with the occasional stout or lager. Once in a great while I will mix things up with a red wine (usually Zin, Cab or Pinot) or scotch. But not too often.

I used to wonder if I have a problem, an addiction, but I've decided that I don't. I've realized that I don't "need" to drink, I just like to. It's never a problem, either at home or work. My biggest issue (literally) with drinking is the empty calories.

I no longer drink beer. I share a bottle of wine 2-3 times a week with my husband.

Something tells me that with all of JBass's drinking and socializing, he doesn't have kids.
I hardly drink anymore. If you put a case of beer in my fridge, some of them would still be there a year later. However, that could be because I'm not really a beer man anymore. I prefer to have some hard liquor in a soda of some kind. Jack and Coke, SoCo and Mountain Dew, etc. I do most of my drinking in the winter around a firepit with the neighbors.

I like a nice white wine or some Corona with lime.
Winter time I break out the smooth whiskey by the wood burning fireplace.
We have a fire pit bit the kids drive me crazy with the s'mores. Plus they are too young to drink.

People always ask me if I'm Christian when I tell them I don't drink. Since when did Christians make it a point to not drink alcohol? I simply choose not to drink because I like being in control of my self at all times. I like remembering what I did and what I said the night before. However, I would never avoid someone just because they drink. Almost all of my friends drink/smoke.

5'11" , 185 pounds. i can drink at least a 12 pack and feel a little buzzed. when i kill 30's its not good.

I have friends who will go to a neighborhood party and drink until they blackout. These aren't college students. These a middle aged professionals. These are the folks who should totally abstain from alcohol.

We have a tradition of hanging out at one of our neighbor's yards and drinking beer while handing out candy on Halloween night. This past year, one of the gals from down the street came up totally shit-faced. I mean, like borderline boot-ready.
I don't mind having a beer or two after taking the kids out. But going up to everyone's house totally shit-faced with your kid on Halloween night? A bit much.
