Government Healthcare -- What Could Go Wrong?

Hmm ... Joe Biden said colonoscopies would be free. Apparently, they're free at the VA medical centers, but just given a bit too late.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Six deaths have been linked to delayed screenings for colorectal cancer at the veterans medical center in Columbia, S.C., the Veterans Affairs Department said Friday.

The VA's inspector general said in a recent report that delayed colonoscopies and other screenings were linked to malignancies found in 52 patients. The report did not go into detail about the seriousness of those cases.

Ask the rest of the worlds developed industrialized countries. Who taught you not to believe in America?

National healthcare works in countries like Germany and Canada IF it is managed correctly. Obamacare is a joke and total debacle. "Affordable" healthcare for all americans. LOL. Yeah for O-NO and Congress it is wonderful.

Its all you can get done out of a bipartisan committee with Republicans. If it fails then we know what the last alternative is.

Revamp the tax code and have national healthcare like Germany or Canada. Get rid of the money making whore insurance companies. There bottom line is to make money. Ridiculous.

Actually, Germany's health care system, with a combination of private and state supported insurance programs, is more like Obamacare than you seem to realize. Depending on income levels, Germans either receive government funded insurance, get it through employers who participate in such plans, or are required by law to purchase it. The German population polls very favorably for their system, which dates back to the 1920s.

Canada's is a single-payer system. What most Americans don't know, willfully or otherwise, is that the single-payer is not the federal government in Ottawa. It is the provincial governments (provinces being effectively the equivalent of American states) with Ottawa playing a supporting role. Americans also don't realize that Canadians love their system. It's current form was put into place in the early 1960's and since then, Canada's had liberal governments and conservative governments (the current one is conservative and has been in power for over 6 years); and no one has ever proposed repealing it.

Now, out of curiosity, how do you know that "Obamacare is a joke and a total debacle?" It hasn't even started yet.

If it is so wonderful why did Congress and the President get exempted? That should be a clue genius.

Just because they like something doesnt mean its better. In 1999 only 24% of Canadianslabeled the system as very good. Ask Brock Lesnar how great Canadas system was when he almost died there from diverticulitis that was treated in the US. Or better yet explain how waiting lists for treatment are an improvement over what we have. In hospital urgent heart surgery patients waited 8 days with others having to wait up to two months, MRIs are notoriously hard to get, theres long waiting lists for everything from rationed care. Theres numerous academic studies and articles about how horrible the wait times are and how unorganized and bad the problem is.

People dont come from around the world to the US hospitals because our system is inferior. It works a little better in Germany but still inferior. Everywhere that has universal health care has significantly longer wait times for surgery and diagnostic tests unlike the US where you could get an MRI by the end of the week if not next day.

Once the system is in place you wont go back. Nothing you just said was an argument for the merits of switching, you just mentioned complacency for people who have known no other system since they were born.

You may think its fine to wait 6 months for neurosurgery like in Canada but the majority of Americans would rather have readily accessible care that you dont have to pay entirely out of pocket for. Universal health care just means fewer doctors accept insurance, and long wait lists. The Cleveland Clinic is already announcing layoffs from when Obamacare gets implemented and theyre one of the premier hospitals of the world.

Now that we passed it and know whats in it since Pelosi couldnt be bothered to figure it out first its quite clear it is in fact a debacle

Yeah that's right, health care is more accessible for those with the ability to pay for it in America. That's the only benefit though. The USA ranks 38th in the world between Slovenia and gets beat by Costa Rica.

That's the superior system he's talking about. Heartless douchebags.

What rag do you get your numbers from? Please do keep in mind, your positioning of where America stand (at 38) really means little to any of us as we don't know what criteria was utilized for the review.

You mean if he were to count ladies, right? However, if you allow him to count male partners he's been with, then he'll have to use his hands, and his toes and maybe his teeth too for all of them.

Gerry is a man-slut to the dominating males in his life!
