When I lived in Brooklyn, you could go to the corner bodega and buy a cup of iced vodka and juice from under the counter. It was in a styrofoam cup. I can't remember what they called it, something in spanish, but what fun could be had on the sidewalk first thing in the morning!

I remember the PRs used to make a really good papaya drink, like a smoothie years ago, used to sell it from a kiosk. Mix it with rum and what a drink it made.

To make good prison hooch:
Get a discarted plastic container or jug (the ones that carry the ersatz coffee were the best) about 1 gallon capacity.
Fill halfway with Koolaid or Grape drink.
Add raisans, fruit slices, or grapes, strawberries, whatever.
Add 5 table spoons of cane sugar.
Get some cheesecloth or perforated fabric, onion bags work OK, and cut a circular piece with a 5 inch diameter.
Steal some brewers or baking yeast from the kitchen and place in center of cheese cloth secure with twine or dental floss and make a hole in container's cap/cover suspend the yeast ball from the cover halfway into solution. Fill container with water till full. Secure top/cover and have laundry working inmate, place behind cloths dryer or under, OUT OF SIGHT. Let heat from dryers start the fermintation process. Heat will cause a quicker fermintation. Wait about a week then have inmate deliver it to your cell in laundry bag. Enjoy! but be carefull about the alcohol smell on the tier, so nurse the drink, take it like a shot.

I agree with recipe, however need to plug the hole in cover which protrudes the string with toothpaste to prevent alcoholic smell from escaping with CO2 bubbles. Gum works but it is a contraband item, sometimes the guards are pretty nice and will give you a stick if you ask them. Leave a area at top of sealed container to contain CO2 bubble and avoid pressure bill uo.
