Florida Wildlife Commission experts have analyzed the photo and determined that the reptile's coloring is not genetic. Officials suspect the animal might be the victim of a prank but won't know for sure until they can examine it.

Who the hell would get that close to an alligator to paint it?

Blessed are the murderous.

The kids down in the south (the real south, Meade) have no respect for the gators.... They get drunk and then decide to go hunt them... They're really easy to find at night... Just go out onto the water with a spotlight...

Gator eyes reflect a lot of light... You can spot a gator from hundreds of yards away at night...

They'll find gators, grab 'em with their bare hands, and do all sorts of unsavory things to them...

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that some kids went around spray painting them...

I doubt it would've been laying around long enough for them to spray paint it. It's more likely that they tossed a bucket of paint onto it.

You're right. Florida is just general purpose trailer park.

I have to agree with whoever said Florida is not the South. It sure didnt seem like it to me. Northern Florida has a lot of Southern qualities to it, but ironically its like you've gone so far South, you're in the North again. Southern Georgia definitely- Southern, and perhaps the western panhandle of FL that extends into Alabama. But the rest is just kind of NJ on the opposite end.

Northern Florida is as deep south as you can get. I've never seen a place so backwards, and I've even heard whites there openly referring to blacks as "Coons". The blacks refer to the whites are Crackers too.

Rural Central PA is pretty backwards. Is that the Deep South too?

maybe its the algae in the water? it looks almost powdery. i dont think someone just ran up and threw paint on it. could also be cause by high iodine levels in the water from decaying plant matter. ima marine biologist.

Yeah, I'm still having a hard time believing that a person would do this to an alligator, no matter how drunk or stupid they might be. No way they could paint the whole body like that without losing their limbs.

A pussy like you wouldn't be able to, but I'm sure those guests on 'Jackass' could!

a lone person, probably not. a group of people, quite easily. if you cover the eyes and subdue the head, you are in control of the whole alligator. plus, alligators are like chickens, if you flip them on their back they will pass out or go into a subconscious state. same thing with some sharks. they will be completely immobilized. i wouldnt put it passed the sick and twisted mind's of human beings.

That orange powdered dye stuff they use to mark lines in grass or in bank robber dye bombs would be easy to cover most of the animal with one throw.
