Thanks to Governor McDonnell's bipartisan transportation reforms, gas prices are the 5th lowest in the country

Did You Know?

Due in part to the reduction in state gasoline taxes negotiated by Governor Bob McDonnell, the average price of gasoline in the Commonwealth is $3.36 per gallon, nearly 20 cents below the national average of $3.54 per gallon.

AAA-Mid Atlantic found that Virginia is tied for the 5th lowest gas prices in the nation and that a year ago Virginians were paying, on average, 24 cents more per gallon.

Governor McDonnell's bipartisan transportation plan reduced the gas tax at the pump in Virginia by 6 cents per gallon. In 2012 ,the average price for a gallon of gasoline was $3.60 in the Commonwealth, which translated to 14 cents below the national average.

Governor McDonnell's landmark transportation plan, passed by the General Assembly this year, reduced the gas tax at the pump in Virginia by 6 cents per gallon. A year ago, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in Virginia, was $3.60, or 14 cents below the national average

Results through bipartisanship with Senate Democrats? Who would of thought for a Republican? Maybe Republicans that truly believe that we've had results should take this as a lesson? Maybe? Although the truth is he raised other taxes more and cut gas taxes that affect the poor less than they do the rich.

Are you a retard or just play one on tv? Lower gas prices would affect the poor much more than the rich. A five dollar saving per tankful would help out lunchbox joe much more than richie rich who uses twenty dollar bills to light cigars.

There you go, that's what old Republican turds think of your Governors Tax Bill now Law. His compromise and bipartisan so called "signature achievement" is indicative of him being a fascist sell out.

That's the Republican position.

My position is he screwed over the north, disproportionately raised our taxes in other forms and decreased them at the pump.

Business's and the rich consume more oil than do ordinary folk by a very large amount. Therefore the tax burden from a gas tax is progressive not regressive. Abolishing that as the revenue stream for Virginia's roads is an act against the middle and poor class of this state.

I've already explained this and discussed this in other threads about this legislation and I'm not here to repeat myself about common knowledge.

He really is that dumb. Look at how hes touting bipartisanship here but ask him about the Patriot act and its all the GOPs fault.

I'll have to dredge up your original post when you were whining about McDonnell passing this horrible regressive bill. Until you found out that it was overwhelming supported by and passed as a result of Democrat support. lmao! You hypocritical fuck.

Okay so now the Republican OP wanted to give the Governor credit for the bill and the rest of the Republicans in the thread want to hold Senate Democrats responsible for it?

Who gets the credit and is it a good bill or not?

Funny to see contradicting Republicans call me the hypocrite.

Lol gerry saving the poor and middle class money is now a war on them lol. Why do you hate the middle class?

Saving 50 dollars a week on gas means FAR more to the poor or middle class than it does to a corporation, its not even debatable but I love watching you try.

He raised taxes you idiot, by 5.9 billion dollars. The largest tax increase in the history of the state.

Residents of Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads will see increases in the local sales tax from 5 to 6 percent, increases in taxes on home sales, and increased hotel taxes. The rest of the state will experience a sales tax hike from 5 to 5.3 percent.

I quoted the ATR on purpose. I'm dealing with Republicans, you would think your own sources would be the most influential seeing how most of the time you critisize the source rather than the substance.

Come on you can do better than that.

In the previous posts youve completely back tracked on what bipartisan means, turned 180 against higher taxes, claimed a lower price hurts the poors ect and now this is what we get?

What a let down, you were on such a roll. Put some more effort into it you can do better

The only reason why he did it was because he needed some achievement other than taking bribes from Jonnie. He did it for his own political future rather than the betterment of our state. Thats the bottom fucking line.

The guy hadn't done a God damn thing. He still hasn't other than raising taxes. I know that sounds partisan and politically oppurtunist but it's the truth.

Which he couldn't have done without the votes of Democrat legislators eee iii ooo
And he still left office with a 70% approval rating eee iii ooo

It is pretty amazing how with all the stuff his approval rating is still in net-positive territory. It's down from its near 70 heights, but most governors in the country would kill for McDonnell's approval even now.

I'd guess it's mainly because he's been a pretty decent governor and everything I've ever heard suggests he's also a pretty decent guy on a personal level. No Democrat in Richmond will actually say anything all that negative about him personally. It's a gift, I suppose.

Incidentally, before the current gift mess, McDonnell had a positive approval rating with blacks and Hispanics and in his 2009 race he won 60% of the Asian community in Northern Virginia. How many Republicans pull that off?

McDonnell is far from a poor dude, but he's also not that wealthy. He's got quite a bit of mortgage debt on houses that are underwater, just like everyone else in the country. But don't let that get in the way of your Thurston Howell III narrative.

Don't mistake Virginian decency and respect for our executive office for approval. We are a state that has quite the history now of well respected productive Governors. Bob McDonnell was neither productive or should be respected.

If he were able to run again you'd know what his real approval is...

Yeah, not so much.

Governor Graft's gasoline tax scheme took effect on July 1, 2013. As the chart below shows gas prices were trending lower and gas was $3.33/gal., before the scheme. Three weeks later, the price had spiked 7% higher. Today, a gallon of gas costs about six cents more per gallon than before Governor Graft's gasoline tax scheme took effect.

This is the chart you need. There hasn't been a difference in the traditional difference between gas prices averaged in Virginia compared to the gas prices averaged across the country.

He basically raised our sales taxes, home sales taxes and hotel taxes for nothing but more earnings for oil and gasoline businesses. Where are the savings? Even pennies per gallon don't exist. Bullshit fucking Governor with bullshit regressive tax hikes that fucked our state with dumbasses on here that support this type of bullshit.

Where are the savings OP? There's your chart.

It would be important to note that May 14 is when the transportation bill was signed. The widening of the averages there occured before the bill was even law. Then it realignes to traditional comparitive averages.

Show me the money, its in someones pocket, just not ours. Common Republicanism.

Yea that must be it, there hasnt been anything at all happening since the increase started that could possibly affect the price of gas.

The OP's post attempts to credit Governor Graft with a reduction in the price of gasoline which has not happened. Thanks for completely misunderstanding this thread, yet posting your meaningless drivel none-the-less. Good job!

July 1st is when it took effect? There's zero indication that we saved a dime in our trends compared to the national average. It looks like the state stopped collecting gas prices and gas stations just kept the prices the same.

He pretty much raised our sales taxes and other taxes to the tune of 5.9 billion dollars and gave the money from gas taxes to the oil industry.

The OP thinks we sould be thankful for getting fucked. I guess you do have to be willing to thank people that are in the business of fucking you if you're a middle class Republican.

That graft clearly shows it going down until it went up a few days ago, again Im just wondering if theres anything that happened then that could be causing a gas price rise?

My fault for assuming you could understand a simple line graph.

I like your new screen name though, very fitting for you.

This idiot doesn't understand that we're comparing the Virginia average to the national average for 18 months and the time proceeding the legislation. There is no evidence of any effect.

Don't waste your time with Liberal Logic, he's either a complete idiot or likes to play one as his only recourse.

The math is right there motherfucker. You got a problem with numbers? Take it up with God.

Bring his ass down to south Florida. The shit is out of control here! Someone in Syria sneezed and gas went up .10/gallon overnight. Now about $3.80/gal

I think it's great that Bob McDonnell has converted Gerry into a rabid tax-burning constitutionalist.

Who could have seen this detour coming?

Governor Bob's powers of persuasion must be massive.

I am a constitutionalist to the core. The point here is Republicans don't care about lower taxes for ordinary people. If they did they wouldn't have held the middle class hostage and refuse to extend the Bush tax cuts for the middle class.

This is another example where if tax reform puts a higher tax burden on working families then its par for the course for a Republican politician.

Have to state the obvious to grown ass adults. Republicans don't give a flying fuck about you. They're corrupt and beholden to special interests as all are politicians in this country. Only difference is Republicans think they have a green light to fuck you as royally as you can imagine.

Just backwards politicians and their dumbass supporters.

What happened to equal protection under the law gerry, the top 1 percent already pays 80 percent of taxes why should they have a tax hike with the amount of money the government wastes? Especially now that 250k for a family makes you a "millionaire"

First of all they don't pay 80 percent of the taxes you lying sack of shit. The top 1 % pays 40.4 % of the tax burden by the most recent data.

The top 1 percent also holds 42 % of the nations financial wealth and 35 percent of its net worth.

Liberal Logic, stop fucking lying and saying ridiculious things. You're a fucking idiot.
