Winfrey, who stars in Lee Daniels' new film The Butler, visited Zurich last month to attend singer Tina Turner's wedding. Her programme The Oprah Winfrey Show is not shown in Switzerland.

Speaking to US TV show Entertainment Tonight, she said: "I go into a store and I say to the woman, 'Excuse me, may I see the bag right above your head?' and she says to me, 'No. It's too expensive.'"

The star made an estimated $77m last year

When Winfrey insisted, the shop assistant allegedly replied: "No, no you don't want to see that one, you want to see this one because that one will cost too much. You will not be able to afford that."

The star said she left the shop calmly without arguing, but that the experience was proof that racism continues to be a problem.

The big, fat, imperial princess Ophra, seems to always have problems in these European shops.

Wasn't there a similar incident in France?

We always hear only Ophra's side of the story.

Perhaps a little self assesment by the dusky princess is in order.

No it isn't. That's like saying how could someone be racist if they hire black people. You really think one black woman becoming rich means the country cannot be racist? I have to agree, this is exactly what happened. The Swiss are "neutral" about everything, so there's no doubt that Oprah just expected them to kiss her ass like everyone in the US, and when they didn't, she just flipped out on them.

It's a $38,000 bag. How many people can afford it? Oprah could have been dressed in sweat pants and an Obama sweatshirt with holes in it along with a baseball cap to disguise herself. The clerk was probably qualifying her before she whipped out a high end piece of merchandise. It's like people going to a Porsche dealership wanting to drive a $200k car. If you look like a vagabond most likely they aren't going to let you drive one. Maybe Oprah should show a picture of what she looked like that day and maybe we can see some security footage from the store to get the truth. Oprah has star power. That makes her untouchable. Look at her funny and she probably thinks its racist. And what the hell qualifies that non-married no-kids workaholic on giving people advise on how to have a good marriage and raise children. Maybe she can spend a little time trying to solve the black on black murders going on in her home town instead of buying ridiculously priced bags and complaining that someone was rude to her. Wtf
