"John McCain said he'd rather lose an election than a war. Why? Because that's John McCain." - Rudy Giuliani

Average American reading level = 7th grade. I actually now believe that.

You're right, the election is over. McCain didn't gain ANY ground after his speech in the election markets. Obama still has his 18% lead intact.

I was a Republican in my younger days.

In 1992, I remember feeling really good after hearing Pat Buchanan's speech, thinking he had it right on.

This was Palin's high point. The polls might get close now, but I don't believe John McCain will surpass Obama in the margin of error. With the shit-storm on the horizon (Trooper-gate, Palin's affair with her husband's ex-business partner about to be exposed by the National Enquirer), McCain will be lucky to be over 40 percent by the end of this month.

In a Zogby Interactive survey conducted last weekend, just after the McCain announcement that Palin would join his ticket, McCain Palin won 47.1% support, while Obama/Biden won 44.6% support.

The interactive survey of 2,312 likely voters nationwide was conducted Sept. 5-6, 2008, and carries a margin of error of +/- 2.1 percentage points.

Even with the margin of error...
