Dear Abby-
My husband left me for a younger, wealthier woman. What makes matters worse is that I waited for him for 5 1/2 years while he was a POW in Vietnam. During that time, I was in a car accident and developed a limp. When my husband returned from Vietnam, my limp displeased him greatly. Soon, he was running around with many other women before settling on the daughter of a beer baron, who was also a convicted felon with ties to the mob. Needless to say, he left me and his children destitute.
My question for you is that his new wife keeps calling me up and asking if she can borrow some of the pills I take for pain associated with my limp. Do you think this is rude? What should I do?
Signed,
Limping and Loveless
Dear Limping and Loveless:
You will have to forgive your husband. He obviously suffers from PTSD due to his time as a POW. You should appreciate the fact you no longer have him in your life. Who knows what crazy thing he will do to those who put their trust in him. Consider yourself lucky.
As for the new wife, I'm sure she makes enough money to find her drugs somewhere else.
