The 2008 Toronto explosions were a series of explosions and ensuing fires, together an industrial disaster, on the morning of August 10, 2008 in the Downsview community of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The incident, at the Sunrise Propane Industrial Gases propane facility in the Keele Street and Wilson Avenue area of north-west Toronto, occurred just before 4 a.m. ET starting with a thunderous explosion. These blasts caused thousands of people to be evacuated from their homes. Two deaths have been reported while the cause has yet to be determined.
At about 4AM, Initial small explosions caused a fire, which grew, and resulted a sudden large explosion of almost nuclear-magnitude, joined by a large shockwave and mushroom cloud, taking out power to the entirety of York, a northwest neighborhood of Toronto.
