Looking for some real advice on which to buy, a LCD or LED TV. I am looking to get a 46 inch tv for the house.

LED tv's I believe are brighter. If this tv is going in a room with windows get an led tv with an anti glare screen. If it is going in a dark basement or man room just get a cheaper lcd tv. If you want more fluid motion look at the refresh rate. I believe 240 is pretty good nowadays.

Or if you want on the cheap just get the cheapest 50" slim tv on sale at Best Buy :).

I have an older 52" Sony Bravia LCD. It has a wonderful picture but it seems like the LED aspect ratio is much more brilliant, affordable and lighter/thinner. Picking a tv is tough, as there are too many selections.

Plasma is better than both and is very cheap these days. Panasonic models get very good reviews.

I replaced my 32" LCD a couple years ago when I moved and that TV was way small for the room. Picked up a 55" Samsung LED and love it. Picture is great and the thing ways about the same as my LCD. I bought it for watching the Caps Winter Classic game and I almost had to put on Sunglasses it was so bright. Still going strong.

LED, no question about it.

They are thinner, brighter, clearer, last longer.

Just visit your local has-TV-in-stock store and take a look - we did that at Costco many moons ago and selected (two over a year time) Vizio - wireless connected to our router, one ONLY that (and to a game machine) - very nice.

I looked at some Panasonic plasma tvs today and they seemed to have better clarity than the LEDs

Get a Panasonic Plasma. Best picture by far.

If in a well lit room that gets lots of sunshine then get plasma.
If in a 24/7 shaded room that never gets real sun light then get LED.

Older LCD are being phased out as they are worse than plasma or LED.

My advice would be just the opposite - LEDs seem to handle bright rooms much better than plasma. And you can't beat plasma in a dark room - still the best picture around.

The Panasonic plasmas are good these days, and cheaper than ever, but I'll be parted only by death with my Pioneer Kuro.

Oh and tip - find a price online (always cheaper) even if you don't intend to buy it, print it out and take it into Best Buy. They'll match it. I did this with a online place so dodgy (and hence cheap) that they might as well have said 'fell off the back of a truck sale'.

Agree. Think the other poster must have mixed things up there.

Amazon does great delivery on TVs. I've got 4 Samsung LED's 2-3 yrs old. All look good, but a minor capacitor problem with one, that can cause delay when starting. A somewhat common Samsung problem with older TVs when I searched it.
