Please forgive Adam Lanza
Posted by: Light of Jesus ()
Date: December 17, 2012 09:49PM

Everyone keeps saying there's a special place in hell for this man, but I pray he's in Jesus's arms instead. Let's pray for Adam Lanza, there is nothing in this world beyond the reach of God. Not a single thing too big for the love, grace, and boundless mercy of Jesus Christ.

I know in my heart that Jesus forgives this man and if someone could pray for me, that I would forgive Adam the same way He does, love Adam the same way He does, I would greatly appreciate it.

He deserves nothing short of eternal damnation for the cold-blooded killing of children. No torment could ever come close to what he deserves. He got off easy by shooting himself. Why didn't he do it before killing those babies?

The whole of God is Love. He is just and merciful as well, as well as all the other attributes given to him throughout Scripture, but his single, most defining characteristic is perfect Love.

Adam Lanza is not for us to judge. Nor is it for us to give mercy. We are called to love just as God loved us.

In this case, I'm comfortable judging. And, given the opportunity, of being executioner as well, but he prevented anyone from being in that role. I'm glad he and God have had a face-to-face meeting by now.

Adam Lanza must have been in a lot of pain to do what he did. Finding comfort in the fact that Adam Lanza is probably going to hell is just sick. That is not the response that the Bible promotes.

His pain is, or was, NOTHING, compared to the pain he inflicted on those young and innocent children. As the parent of a 6 y.o., I can't begin to fathom the terror and pain all those parents are going through right now. My girl and I had a long talk about what happened and I tried to answer why. She's still sleeping with us at night. I can't even read all the way through one of the news stories without my heart breaking.

Your God was asleep at the wheel last Friday morning.

Hell is far too kind a place for that bastard.

Blah-blah-blah. 12 years of attending a private Christian
school opened my eyes to the nonsense in your heart.

*Your* God was asleep at the wheel last Friday morning.
Tell me how those 20 innocent children were saved and how
happy they were as they were mercilessly ripped to shreds
by evil incarnate. The last ones shot got to see their
friends murdered. Where was *your* God at that moment?

OP is right, you know. According to the Bible and the teachings of Christ, even Lanza would have been forgiven and gotten into heaven if he'd accepted Jesus into his heart and repented before he died. People don't get to pick or choose when God's grace applies; only God can decide that. If those teachers didn't acccept Jesus, they went to hell. It doesn't matter whether or not they died protecting kids. The Bible is very clear on how you get into heaven.

Why does God let bad things happen like this? For the same reason he tested the simple faith of Job. He works in mysterious ways, and it's just your hubris and pride that causes you to question God's judgment. This was all part of God's plan, just like everything else.

If you were a true Christian, you'd forgive Lanza for what he did and simply pray for the families to find peace.

Forgive him? Fuck you. If he walked into the school and shouted obscenities, then he could be forgiven. For what he did there is no forgiveness.

Going to a "Christian" school doesn't mean you know or understand Christ. God didn't cause this. The shooter caused it and our society enabled him. He was an avid violent gamer with mental disorders who was left to his single mother to try and help. He was not religious in any way as far as we've been told.

We can't overtly and purposefully throw God out of our lives and then wonder why He is no longer there "at that moment". The absence of God is just a vacuum for evil to florish and grow. And evil is thriving in the US right now. God is a life preserver that is always right there next to us. But we have to reach out and grab Him.

You seem to know the words, but your posts show you don't understand them. This was not God's judgement. God keep the world in balance until man embraced sin. At that point, He removed His hand. The more we reject Him, the further He removes His hand from us. The laws of nature and the universe predicate chaos. God brings order to that chaos. If we reject God, we invite chaos. But don't worry, there's always a "helpful" person willing to restore order to our society. The cost is always death, war, tyranny, division and hatred. But hey, at least Metro will run on time.

Evil exists in the world. More and more, we drift towards evil as a society (as most societies have over the centuries). God let's our decisions carry through to their natural conclusions. You could ask, "Why does God let anyone die?". But the Bible already answers that. Man fell. Now, we're not just fallen, we're digging a hole to go even deeper.

Phew, now that's alot to take down.

I'm sure every ancient culture had their way of appeasing whatever god they were worshipping, and I'm sure they were all well convinced that they were right.

Guess I should be thankful that I was born in an age when religionists no longer practice human sacrifices or ritual bloodletting to appease their deity. Instead we get stories about moving toward a giant hand.

There's no difference between what I'm saying and what you're saying. Either God caused this to happen as part of His plan, or he did nothing and allowed it to happen because of the sins of humanity. Six of one, half-dozen of the other.

Again, to reference Job: God didn't punish Job, he sat back and allowed the devil to punish Job. Whichever way you want to slice it, God was still the driving force behind why it happened. Also, that was part of His plan, because he wanted to prove that Job wouldn't lose his faith in the face of such hardship.

How do you know that God isn't doing the same thing here? Testing the faith of humanity by allowing this tragedy to occur? If your faith is strong, then the path is clear; you must forgive Lanza.

We agree somewhat. Allowing humanity to choose it's path (both as individuals and as communities/societies) has always been. We choose our path, we walk it. God is not the driving force in our choices, we are. You might believe that God and Satan are playing a game with us. That is not how I see it. It is a struggle, not a game. God represents holiness and Satan unholiness. And currently, Satan is winning.

It is natural to question God. But if you reject Him from the onset, how can you then question Him? Children question their parents all the time. But loving parents are making the best decisions for their kids, whether they understand it or not. If God exists, how much greater is His understanding over us than that of a parent over their 2 year old?

No Christian would think that. Anyone who does is not a Christian (or, at best, they are a very marginal Christian who does not live the Word). Calling yourself a Christian and being a Christian are not one in the same. Most of the hate and frothing, irrational ranting seems to be coming from the anti-God faction.

If there is a heaven, I'm sure it's filled with very devout christians, clergymen, and people who knock on doors to hand out religious pamphlets.

It sounds pretty unpleasant, actually.

I used to attend spiritual seminars a long time ago. According to them, there's lot of people clamoring to get back into the real world from the spiritual world so they can experience life. This is where the real spiritual growth occurs. You encounter hardships or obstacles.

People, Adam Lanza was mentally ill. It sounds like he received the best possible care, but he still went off the deep end.

I heard the most probable explanation for why this happened this morning: Adam was receiving intensive psychological and other support from the school system - until he graduated - at which point he was on his own (except for the efforts of his mother). And he spiralled downward.

We have to find a better way to provide on-going support to people with mental health problems, for their sake and for ours. This is especially true given the current epidemic of autism-related disorders. You can't just lock them all up.

Ok, opions needed. I hear people say he got off easy by shooting himself, my opion on this is, yes, he did. Others say at least the public won't be footing the bill for the trial and incarceration and death penalty(if he got it).

Here is the question:

Are you glad he saved the tax payers money so there is no trial and incarceration or wish he didn't and got the needle?

As Gravis would have said, people like this need to be taken in one piece and dissected to find out where the faulty wiring is.

Maybe instead of letting her son become a complete recluse and buying violent video games to occupy and pacify him, she could have done something other than going to bunko games and bar hopping ( or at least get junior out of the house occasionally) She created her own demise as do many others who think allowing their disabled children to hide from society and provide inappropriate alternatives in their dulusional world. Unfortunately as well as their end, they unleash a monster on the rest of us. If someone is living in your house , they shouldnt have a total expectation of complete privacy. Be a parent.

He really didn't have any signs of mental illness other than his developmental disorder, the mild autism. It's not like he had a history of violent behavior or suicidal tendencies.

You bring up a lot of good points. However, it appears that Adam was pulled from the public school system in his junior year and home schooled so he wasn't receiving any support from the school system at that point.

Also, the Columbine shooters had ADHD and were on medication, Cho suffered from depression and Holmes was being seen by a psychiatrist. All of them played violent video games (Doom, WoW, COD). Harris/Klebold (The Martix among others) and Holmes (the Batman trilogy) were obsessed with violent movies. There seems to be a pattern with these murderers. Autism is not the key.

LMAO So video games are the tell tale sign of a mass murderer? The Matrix, seriously?

Think of all the people that play these games, or listen to music with violent music, and the vast majority are not out killing people.

You are the same type of person that blamed Marlyn Manson for Columbine.

This incident has absolutely no correlation to religion. With or without it, these things can happen.

I think we're all "victims" of our parents decisions, and our own decisions in life. If Hitler had chose to continue painting, or had never read Mein Kampf, he could have turned out to be a fairly decent chap.

You can say this about anyone you believe is, or was a horrible person.

Turn left or turn right? We face these choices all the time in life and sometimes it can change you completely, for better or worse.

The mild autism and developmental disorder would have been enough to have him committed. Fairfield Hills Mental Asylum was located near his home in Newton, CT. Too bad it closed!

People with autism or mild autism shouldn't be committed. They just need plenty of support and possible therapy. It's not like they are schizophrenic.

No, I'm not that type of person eesh. You ability to jump to unsubstantiated conclusions is impressive. Nutty, but impressive. What is it with people like you who thread bits and pieces of a post together to paint some repressive picture that you've painted in that mind of yours? Everything I posted was true. I didn't write that violent video games was the "tell tall sign" of anything. I wrote (correctly) that all of these shooters play them. I was responding to another poster. Why do you feel the need to assume totally stupid stuff and then post totally stupid posts to show that you've assumed something totally stupid? Seriously, I'd like to know.

Hitler wrote Mein Kampf. Yes, he probably read it as he was writing it, but it wasn't the reading that was "tell tale" (ask eesh what that means), it was his writing it that was.

I love religion... interpret it however you want for a given circumstance. A woman was impregnated by her rapist? Well that was god's intent so you'd better keep that baby. A bunch of kids get murdered? Well that wasn't god's fault. But that being said, maybe it is society's fault for not embracing christianity in schools. In other words, god didn't protect us because we don't love him enough.

And you wonder why people like me are agnostic...

Interesting repsonse. And you hope to accomplish what exactly with this kind of post? Do you talk like this to people IRL? Why do you feel the need to tear down a positive post with a personal attack? Does it make you feel better somehow? Do you consider yourself to be a contributing member of society? Do you think this post moves this conversation forward?

BEH, no apology necessary. i think we're probably on the same page: what happened is too awful to contemplate, but of course we have to, and so we're faced with having to put our sorrow & anger somewhere. i can tell you are passionate and for the good, so that's all right.

the whole thing is horrible, and i certainly can't make any easy explanation, nor do i have a set of simple answers. it's beyond my ability to interpret, so i just do what i can in trying to understand it. but i really don't.

there's some part of me that keeps looking for a resolution -- oh, he'll burn in hell for what he did, or the laws will change and prevent this again, or at least i can decide whom to blame and thus get some clarity. . . but none of that really works for me. i just feel helpless and clueless about it all.

poor, poor people of newtown, and their friends & families, & on & on. whatever comfort there can be, i hope everyone gets it in whatever form works.

Maybe. But she apparently pulled him out of the baby-sitting public school system and home schooled him starting in 10th grade. So perhaps we should hold off on judging a single mom who gave up much of her life to try and raise a mentally distrubed son because she had run into one roadblock after another from our great, caring society...

The OP (and MrMephisto) are correct, guys. If you are a Christian, you are called upon to love wastefully, to forgive your transgressors, and to cast aside all thoughts of hatred and vice towards your fellow man. This is even a prominant line in the Lords Prayer - "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us." This is what it means to "turn the other cheek". You are called to LOVE Adam Lanza, despite his actions.

If you don't want to accept that, then that's perfectly fine and I understand your reasons. But you find yourselves in the position of Ivan Karamazov... a willful rebellion agaisnt God for the sake of the unexpiated tears of those children who died in suffering and terror, because your sense of what is forgivable cannot be assaged by pious assertions that it is all in his hands.

This state of rebellion is a good thing, I think. It means you are more moral than your god. Remember that god has shown having no real problems with child killing in the past. There is not a single instance in the bible of Satan killing a child, but God ordered (and preformed) the slaughter of scores of children. For instance: The slaughter of the Midianites where he directed the Israelites to "kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." Kill the boys, rape the girls... basically. How many chilren were killed during Noah's Flood... or during the destruction of Sodom & Grammorah? He killed Job's children in order to test Job's faith. He also demanded that Abraham sacrifice Jacab, and though he pulled back from that - he didn't spare Jephthah's daughter when she was offered up in fulfilment of his obligation to god for helping him defeating the Ammonites. Psalms offers a vision of Israelli recompence against the Babylonians which says they will be blessed when they dash their children against the rocks. Deuteronomy prescribes stoning to death children who disrespect their parents. 2nd Kings also describes an incident in which god sent two bears to maul to death a group of children for the crime of making fun of his prophet's bald head.

(There's also a number of passeges in the non-canonical infancy gospels of Jesus as a child himself killing other children.)

Look... guys. God, does not give a shit about children. Or at least, when he kills them, you're supposed to just accept that they were "wicked" and that their deaths and suffering were justified. Why do Christians accept their deaths with a shrug and say it's not their place to judge the affairs of God, and yet when a man in modern society slaughters 20 children - they cannot bring themselves to accept God's call to love and forgive that man? They will go into open rebellion against god on this issue.

You guys need to sort this shit out, because from the outside it just makes you look like a bunch of hypocrites (who worship a monster).

I will forgive and love this young man with you. As Jesus would have us do.
