For those that seek comfort in the supernatural and are prone to the group mentality, "We all ask ourselves if god is real" must be quite a soothing thing to tell yourself.

The dead childrens is in heaven now, and baby Jesus is singing to them all!

This happens to the children of Gaza, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan all the time. Did it make you question the existence of God then?? Did you even give a shit when a Hellfire missile took out 3 generations of a family in Gaza. Of course not.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Muslim, I just wanted to point out the double standard of crazy gun control liberals.

You're made of people. What the fuck do you know about religion?

I went to Catholic school from kindergarden through high school. When I went off to college I was able to free myself from organized religion's view and saw a much clearer reality.

If God is so great, why is he only a Seven, as opposed to a Ten or a Hundred or Infinity?

Shouldn't you have your own holiday? A Joe Nova day?

YOU went to blah blah blah and learned about to decide for everyone else on the entire planet how weak minded they are.

There are no redeeming qualities to organized religion. None. But hey, don't tkae my word for it...ask the victims of kid-touching priests what they think about it.

Nonsense. Religion offers both mental and spirital peace. It also provides an avenue of people to gather and socialize. It often contributes to increased self-awareness. Churches provide more charity in the US than another of group of instituions. Religious beliefs also offer comfort and strength in times of hardship and dispair. Religion has also provided a supernatural basis for morals in society that supercedes the corrupt, oft-changing and sometimes just-plain-evil laws and governments that we inflict upon ourselves or have inflicted upon us. And there are many more school teachers who abuse kids as there are priests, so your arguement would support the notion that there is no redeeming qualities to organized education as well. Neither notion is well-supported in logic.

I don't love the idea of organized religion. That being said, I know God exists.

"Another words"... seriously? Anyway, care to explain how life spontaneously arose? Care to explain how gravity is exactly what it is, and if it was less than 1.0x10^40 off, nothing would exist? Care to explain exactly how hydrogen bubbles caused the Big Bang, when hydrogen doesn't spontaneously generate?

God and religion are not the same thing. I know many people who believe and worship God but do not belong to an organized religion.

Again, you speak on the behalf of all people everywhere?

How god-like of you.

Thank you for stereotyping 500,000 people without proof or even meeting more than two of them.

The Bible does not date the earth one way or the other. This is a false premise.

God does not forbide bacon. Jewish Rabbis forbade eating pork because pigs were considered dirty (they also forbade eating shellfish probably because it made so many people sick). The New Testament resolved these issues (and a lot more).

I have an IQ of 146. I understand concepts that most don't. I understand how insignificant Earth is as a whole. When people complain about God not answering their pleas, they don't understand that God is the Lord of everything. Not just of the Earth.

If gravity is just a bit off, nothing exists. The universe would not have been able to take shape.

Organized religion is something the Bible warns against.

World War II, the bloodiest conflict in human history: not religious
World War I: Not religious
American Civil War: Nope
Mongol invasions: nope

The twelve bloodiest wars in the history of humanity had nothing to do with religion.

I think most people don't really believe in religion. They attend congregations for the social and economic benefits that accrue from maintaining societal ties. How many atheists are the head of major organizations?

That wasn't based on their religion as much as it was their ethnicity.

"The New Testament resolved these issues (and a lot more)."

My questions are:

Why was the New Testament created / written?
Why was there a need to "resolve issues"?
Was the (Original) Bible not the "Word of God" and perfect in all ways?
What are the differences of the Old and New version? (A short summary please)

Anyone?

I hope Meeper reads this --- he seems to be very versed in religious texts.

A Minor Threat
