Instead of the "city" of Detroit, one of the guests on CNBC just slipped and called it the "shitty." Truth comes unexpectedly. lol

I like Bing. He had the idea to bulldoze the mostly abandoned areas of Detroit to save city services because maybe one person lived in a five block radius. He also jumped ass on the city workers for being such lazy worthless fucks thinking because they were government and entitled they could not be fired. Bing knew from his time with the Pistons you either perform or you are cut. In other words you earn your pay its not a guarantee. The guy is trying to save a city from itself. From what I have seen he would make a great President.

Yeah, those abandoned houses are prime targets for all the kids on Devil's Night.

I like Bing too. The guy's tried but the city council is hopeless.

There's no saving them now. Screw 'em, they've done it to themselves.

Yep. They've done it to themselves. It has nothing to do with the fact that manufacturing went overseas. Detroit would be a thriving city if they hadn't done it to themselves.

Detroit is unfortunately a dead city, but it's not something they did to themselves. Toyota ate their lunch with just-in-time production and lean manufacturing. Detroit, unfortunately, was a company town. That company is basically dead. So is the city.

Plenty of other cities have had to make the same sort of transition and have done so successfully. They've had lots of chances and they've screwed things up all the way around. The city council is a complete mess and appears to live in some alternate reality. They could have had some additional funding but they couldn't agree to anyone having oversight over them. They've run off all of the other businesses and anyone with any sense has left the city. Something like 80% of the jobs left there are at government and other public-sector organizations (hospitals, schools, etc.). They have no tax base and won't as long as it's run the way that it currently is.

Once Bing leaves its all over. He is trying but gets no help from the city council who cannot stop themselves from stealing anything that isnt nailed down.

If they bail out Detroit, they will have to bail out others such as: Stockton, CA, San Bernardino, CA, and Vallejo, CA.
