Republicans Screwed by Fiscal Talks - Losing battle
Posted by: Independent Voter ()

62% of Americans now believe that republicans are not co-operating in the Fiscal talks. If republicans don't cave in than they are screwed in the next election because they won't gain any votes. If republicans do cave in then funding from the rich will not happen.

It's a win win for Obama.

Only 20% of Americans believe that the president is to blame for the stalled negotiations

The same thing with Bush. The Democrats never fought that administration over funding. They just made sure to add theirs to every funding request.

Who said this is a democracy ... when the public always gives the benefit of the fight to the White House.

Why would they fight, Dems had control of the house and senate for about half the time.

Dubbya was sworn-in in 2001.

Democrats did not take control of the both the House & Senate until 2007.

Dubbya left office in 2009.

Really, "Dems had control of the house and senate for about a quarter of the time."

Even so, Dubbya held the veto pen...

I guess if you consider 2 years* out of 8 'about half' you would be correct. But you are just another American that mostly just doesnt think (e.g. you cite 25% as 'almost' 50%).

*The composition of the 109th Congress (2005 - 2007) was as follows:
Senate: 44 D, 55 R House: 202 D, 231 R
The composition of the 110th Congress (2007 - ) is as follows:
Senate: 49 D, 49 R House: 233 D, 198 R

Obama just needs to give up on taxing those who earn more than $250K. He's running us into the ground. Just give up on that, it won't do any good in the long run.

Boehner seems to have conceded that position. The Democrats came back and demanded more taxes and spending cuts that the Republicans don't want.

The whole fiscal cliff thing has been reframed as how to pay for more economic stimulus and poverty support by the Democrats and the media.

Whoa, I think MHK has caused another republican mind to overload.

It's 3pm. I'm going to guess KillTheFreeloaders has already polished off his first six pack of Budweiser.

Everybody blamed republicans in the house for the credit downgrade and this will be the same thing. Obama and democrats can just sit back laugh.

The credit ratings agencies have been neutered by the governments who've threatened them with criminal investigations. Moody's has probably helped the administration with its threat to downgrade on lack of agreement rather than on the lack of real deficit reduction.
