Misled: The Internal Polls That Made Mittens Believe He'd Win
Date: November 30, 2012 10:07AM

It’s no secret that the Romney campaign believed it was headed for victory on Election Day. A handful of outlets have reported that Team Romney’s internal polling showed North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia moving safely into his column and that it put him ahead in a few other swing states. When combined with Ohio, where the internal polling had him close, Romney was on track to secure all the electoral votes he needed to win the White House. The confidence in these numbers was such that Romney even passed on writing a concession speech, at least before the crotchety assignment-desk known as “reality” finally weighed in.

I believe the Democrat's "internal polling" said pretty much the same thing (er...opposite thing?) about Obama's chance of winning - he'd get everything.

Maybe the Republicans need to shop around a little better for polling organizations, huh?

If they really believed that, they wouldn't gone into overdrive in their phone and postcard campaign on the last weekend.

They need to hire contractors who aren't out to screw 'em like the idiots who flooded mailboxes. Better make sure what they're doing makes sense.

Now that Nate Silver has hit the bullseye two Presidentail elections in a row, I'm going to ignore all polling data and media reports in 2016 and just follow what he has to say.

He may have been right, but I don't think anyone needed him to tell them that Obama was going to win. History has shown that unless a President, himself, royally screws up, he will get a second term.

Say what you want, most people recognize that he "inherited" a bad economy and screwed up foreign policy from Bush. I personally laughed all election season at people who thought that Romney was going to win.

When repubs, finally figure out (like Bobby Jindal has) that saying stupid things and insulting voters, turns normal voters off, they will win an election.
