That felt sooo good! Can we beatdown mittens one more time?

Thank god we did not let the angry white men win. What can we do now to make it worse for them?

The final coffin nail for the GOP will happen if the economy improves dramatically. Economic reports indicate 2013 growth will be tepid at best but then again, economic reports are only right 50% of the time.

Your team already won the election, so now maybe try shutting the hell up about it.

Are peoples' lives so devoid of personal achievements that they have to keep rubbing in other peoples' accomplishments?

The "recession" has been over for a while now, but the recovery could take up to 10 years. So I think we can look forward to more of the same campaign strategies in 2016, as far as all that "Obama's socialism is ruining the country" bullshit.

I just hope the republicans don't continue to prevent anything from happening that might benefit unemployed people and people nearing retirement whose 401(k)s could still use a little boost. While that will most certainly backfire on them even more than this time around, we would all continue to suffer for it.

In places like Fairfax Virginia they are.

Most people that grew up here are in the same category. We have never gone without food, shelter, health care, education, toys, fun, games, decent vehicles to drive, never been unemployed more than a few weeks and have always had a good dental plan. With all that practically handed to us we have got to look for other things to occupy our time.

You sound just like every other jackass import to this area.

Do you believe no one was living here before your mommy or daddy got that big contract with Boeing?

Occupy is a good word for it. The 7.2% of us that were born in this state are under occupation. Occupied by idiots. For years and years I've searched for someone...anyone that had a good thing to say about Gerry Connolly other than himself or Sharon Bulova and have failed. Yet he takes 60% of the vote.

Just go away already. And take Gerry with you.

You do know how this works, right? Virginia was party to a lost war. It has been occupied by the victors. Deal with it.

Maybe now you understand how Iraqis, Afghanis, and many other people feel.

Haven't you ever heard the phrase "like seeks like"? You associate with people who have similar interests, beliefs, and outlooks as you. Of course you will not know anyone, or have contact with anyone, who has such opposite views as you.

We'll leave when the US military leaves the last foreign land that it occupies. Which is never.

But we'll leave Gerry for you guys when we do.

Which war would that be? The Revolutionary War? War of 1812? Spanish American War? World War I or II?

No my friend, we aren't occupied by anyone from any of those wars or the one you choose to frame your argument with. We're occupied by a machine that produces nothing but hot air and politicians. A machine that rules over everything yet controls nothing. I personally would have been far happier had the "capital" stayed in Philadelphia.

He's not from here. Could you please return him to Boston on your way out?

Skipped right over the only war Virginia lost.

Yes, that machine is the Union. Had the confederacy won, Virginia would be occupied by a machine of hot air and politicians from Richmond.

Nah. You can keep him.

You do realize it's 2012 right?

The war you are talking about was fought and won by the Union 147 years ago.

Which side did you personally fight on? I wasn't alive at that time. Come to think of it, neither were my parents, or my grandparents but possibly my great-grandparents. I'd have to check but I doubt they could have held a rifle at that stage of their lives much less fought.

I realize that you are just jerking my chain. But I also realize that you, you and those like you are exactly what's wrong with this country.

If it doesn't help your cause, there's no room for it. If it doesn't follow your party line exactly, don't want it. More than likely you are one of the idiots that posted here over the last few weeks stating they wished all Republicans would just drop dead.

Unless...........you happen to be in the 11th grade in Fairfax County which would put you directly in the middle of a Va history class.

I was kind of aware of that, but thanks for making it much clearer.

Yes, that was a long time ago. But if you want to complain about how Virginia is occupied by people you don't like, you can't ignore ancient history.

The fact is, Virginia would have fewer "yankees" if the South had been successful in their effort at become a sovereign country separate from the North. However, they failed. People from all over the country are free to move here and do business here and seek employment here. Just like people from Virginia are free to move to New York City or Philly or where ever they wish.

I didn't realize one had to have been personally involved in ancient history in order to discuss it.

You are what is wrong with this country -- projecting your ideas and opinions on anyone that rubs you the wrong way.

I don't follow a party line. I am equal opportunity in my disgust for both parties. I think people who adhere to any particular brand of demagoguery are devoid of original thought, intellectually dishonest, and seek explanations for things based solely on their political viewpoint, ignoring facts and viewpoints that don't fit their narrative.

How would you know where FCPS is currently in their curriculum? Maybe I just happen to remember my history classes from long ago. I'm probably older than you.

Now we're making some progress. Will you admit that not a single person that could have occupied Virginia post the Civil War era is ALIVE today?

Just like Romney's father was free to move to Mexico and half the elderly population of Canada is free to move to Florida. I fail to see how a war that took place 147 years ago has any bearing at all on where the current 92+% of residents of Northern Virginia. There was no war in DC or NoVa brought these people here. The government brought them here. We don't have steel mills or coal mines or auto factories. There is no reason other than your sunny disposition and the government for them to be here.

I didn't realize ancient history needed to be rehashed in order to discuss current events.

So then you agree with me that the real fight here is the people vs the government.

Maybe? You don't know if you remember it from "long ago"?

My third of four children is currently a junior in the conglomerate known as FCPS. The first two having graduated 11 years ago.

You're younger than me.

Now run along and do you your homework. You lost your Veterans Day holiday a few years ago.
