If you saw that a liberal Democratic candidate was up by 30,000 votes in Virginia with all of Alexandria and Arlington and almost all of Fairfax already counted, but with a number of precincts still unreported in Prince William (perhaps Fimian precincts?) and places like Fredrick County and Craig County Virginia having NO REPORTED VOTES at all, plus if you knew that there could still be a number of uncounted military votes out there, WOULD YOU BET YOUR HOUSE that lead would hold up? I think the networks announced Virginia for Obama right after those Romney bastion locations finally announced their results.
And for the record I was off on the overall. I expected an even popular vote with Obama winning the electoral college. My guess was that Obama would win Ohio and Wisconsin and either Iowa or Nevada, possibly both, and Romney would take Florida, Colorado, New Hampshire, Virginia (all of which he lost, most by small margins) and North Carolina which he won.
So I picked the correct winner but lost on the point spread. There's a reason people pay Silver for his predictions.
