Some Bible Questions from a New Christian
Posted by: New Christian ()
Date: October 15, 2012 04:25PM

I am new to the area and recently decided to become a Christian. Can one of you Christians please help me with some answers to the following questions on the Bible?

Leviticus 19:19 says you can’t cross breed cattle, grow two different crops in the same field, or wear clothing from two different fabrics. I saw the farmer next door in Carhartt denim and gortex overalls planting Tecomate blended oats and chikoree while his Black Angus bull was raping one of his Hereford heifers. Can I off him, take the bull and the cow for meat, and hunt deer out of his food plots?

Leviticus 15:19-24 says I should have no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness for 7 days. I keep asking women if they are having their menstrual uncleanliness and they keep slapping me in the face and calling me a pig. How can I tell if a woman is on her period without looking under the hood?

Speaking of pigs – my son really likes throwing the football out in our yard. Leviticus 11:8 says we can’t touch pig skin. Can we still play football if we wear gloves?

Speaking of gloves – I don’t like wearing one when I do the deed. So I was using the pull-out method until I found Genesis 38:9-10 which says the Lord will take my life for spilling my seed in this manner. Is there a church approved receptacle into which I can blast my sacred man glue? Does the death penalty apply for nocturnal emissions/wet dreams?

Leviticus 25:44 says that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. My buddy says that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Mexican girls are just plain dirty. Can you please explain why I can’t own a couple white female Canadian sex slaves instead?

Exodus 21:7 says I can sell my daughter into slavery. Can you tell me what a fair asking price would be given how expensive things are in this area?

Exodus 35:2 says whoever works on the Sabbath shall be put to death. I saw Mitt Romney working at a campaign rally on the Sabbath. Why does that fucking Mormon get a free pass?

Deuteronomy 17:2-7 says we’re supposed to kill anyone of a different religion. When is the church going to take out the Muslims, Jews, and Mormons? They’re really a pain in the ass.

You do realize that those are all from the old testament, don't you? Also, the sabbath is Saturday, not sunday. There's actually a group of christians who believe that switching the "sabbath" to sunday is a trick of the antichrist.

Which brings up an even more important point: The roman government created "the bible" by taking the torah ('old testament'), and then cobbling together a bunch of pagan ideas and rituals, some writings from descendants of Jesus's followers and calling that the 'new testament'.

What happened was a lot of the merchant class in 300 or 400 a.d. had converted from worshiping any number of polytheistic pagan gods to worshiping jesus, because the roman empire was crumbling and the christians were organized enough to provide basic services like health care, food for the hungry, and housing for the poor. So the rulers just coopted Christianity. The bible was their creation.

So you are Catholic...so why criticize someone "obsessed with religion."

And don't use that language, it is unbecoming of a dutiful Catholic marm such as yourself.

It's not really from THEIR book. The New testament is christian. The Old Testament is Jewish. You referenced texts from the Old Testament.

But yeah, all religions are fabrications. Only simple minded home schooled crazies living out west, hours from the nearest interstate believe that god spoke to someone and then that someone wrote all of it down and called it the bible.

You can't assume all christians believe in those superstitions, even though it seems like they are becoming the majority of believers, lately. Start by asking if they believe the earth is 6,000 years old and Noah actually put two of each species on a boat. Then ask your other questions, if they say yes.

Yeah, it's the Christians who are simple minded crazies all right...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2217286/Global-warming-stopped-16-years-ago-reveals-Met-Office-report-quietly-released--chart-prove-it.html

The religion of the left is based on things that can't even stand up to scrutiny after two decades. The Bible was written thousands of years ago. Now how's about you prove the Bible is incorrect in something.

No, these are not Klansmen.

The Klan, at least in its early 20th century incarnation, was vehemently anti-Catholic.

These are nazarenos (hooded penitents) in the Holy Week parade in Granada.

Thanks for asking, eesh.

I'm up in the Hudson Valley area, enjoying the foliage. I'm staying with friends in a farmhouse built in 1730, on 70 acres of land. It's breathtakingly beautiful.

This morning I watched the sunrise over the Hudson, enjoying a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice spiked with rum.

Come join me.

Bring Numbers along.

Alias - it actually is quite beautiful along the Hudson this time of year.

If you get a chance, stop by West Point and check out the view from Battle Monument looking North West towards Newburgh as the sun sets. Quite the view and lots of cool history.

Some science and philosophy questions from a new convert to Left-wing atheism:

- Should I start looking for my nearest skinhead, KKK, neo-Nazi chapter after reading this?

"At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilised races of man will almost certainly exterminate, and replace, the savage races throughout the world. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes, as Professor Schaaffhausen has remarked, will no doubt be exterminated. The break between man and his nearest allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilised state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as now between the negro or Australian and the gorilla." - Charles Darwin, "The Descent of Man".

America has become so racially diverse. Shouldn't we go back to the times of racial segregation and then actively pursue a campaign of racial extermination?

After all, aren't the attempts by modern day evolutionary biologists to flip the prevailing opinion of the late 19th and early 20th century scientific community - which supported the idea that the White race was more highly evolved than the non-White races and that racial eugenics should be employed to exterminate these less evolved "savage" races (as Darwin called them) - and instead tried to push the narrative that we all evolved from a common negroid ancestor (and should therefore reject racism since we all share a common bond); really just a form of politically correct liberal fantasy?

I'm so confused...

- “Atheism is a natural and inseparable part of Marxism, of the theory and practice of scientific socialism.” - Vladimir Lenin.

Um, does this mean that I should start watching "The Daily Show" religiously and show up to Obama 2012 rallies and support the extermination of over 100 million innocent unarmed people in peace time and ruthlessly oppress countless billions more?

- "Our failure to segregate morons who are increasing and multiplying ... demonstrates our foolhardy and extravagant sentimentalism ... [Philanthropists] encourage the healthier and more normal sections of the world to shoulder the burden of unthinking and indiscriminate fecundity of others; which brings with it, as I think the reader must agree, a dead weight of human waste. Instead of decreasing and aiming to eliminate the stocks that are most detrimental to the future of the race and the world, it tends to render them to a menacing degree dominant ... We are paying for, and even submitting to, the dictates of an ever-increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all." - Margaret Sanger, "The Pivot of Civilization".

I wish to locate a Planned Parenthood clinic that carries out her progressive vision for humanity by aborting undesirables - like low-IQ brown people for example. Do you know of any in the area?

Thanks for your help!

Eugenics was not about a specific race. It was about selecting for genetic lines that the self-appointed arbiters believed to be superior.

I hate to break the news to you, but you and I would not be on the list of acceptable family lines. Unless, of course, you happen to be a member of a family who can trace their wealth back to a few hundred years. All of the -isms of the early 20th century were about controlling production so that the privileged class could exploit it in the most efficient manner.

We should have moved well beyond that way of thinking by now. Why are you hanging onto it?

I forgot.... the -ism that won the battle of how best to control production so the privileged class can most efficiently exploit it was ...

capitalism.

Somehow they tricked Americans into believing "America is a Capitalist society" simply by declaring it so, and then proceeding to shape our society in such a way as to make it true. It wasn't true when the nation was founded. Capitalism didn't even exist in 1789. But the industrialists and old-world money won the PR battle, and so now people will argue with anyone who questions that premise.

"production" is just a kinder way of saying labor, or the population.

And before you accuse me of being a socialist or communist or anarchist -- since the shock of hearing a challenge against capitalism generally leads to that line of thinking -- America is a free-market, not any of the -isms.

So one is true and the other is not? Why would God have it written down if it was not true? Why do Bibles contain both if one is surely outdated? Maybe they want to double the audience?

Did God change his mind between the new and old? That would make God a flip flopper, right?

I really do get disgusted at all the disgraceful acts at my Catholic Church

""Any man who prays or prophesies with something on his head disgraces his head, but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled disgraces her head—it is one and the same thing as having her head shaved." Paul 1

Not in a 1st world nation. Automation via robotics and machinery can increase productivity without additional labor. Japan would be an example of this.

The only thing you should be accused of is being confused.

Production and productivity are two different things.

Production, in this context is combining inputs (natural, man-made and human resources) to create output.

Productivity is the increase in output from each unit in the production process.

The OP asked CHRISTIANS about JEWISH texts.

God didn't write anything down. If you understood the origins of the bible, you'd know it wasn't written by god. It was written by numerous different authors. The Gospels (part of the NEW testament) certainly are not the word of God, they are the word of various apostles and followers of Jesus.

People really have an unrealistic and distorted view of the bible, but I guess that serves the religious establishment, to keep people in the dark and dependent on the "priests". Gotta collect those tithes.

You write much, but much is not right. While the phrase "capitalism" did not exist in the late 18th century, the key concepts did. Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations consolidated many of these concepts including the relationship of business owner and labor, private ownership of land and business, free markets, work incentive, industrial vs. agrarian societies, taxation and wealth consolidation/redistribution. The US, being a new nation that was birthed towards the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, was the perfect place at the perfect time to experiment with these concepts as differenct regions/state developed and adopted their economic systems.

Why do these threads bashing religion always become diatribes against atheists pushing leftwing agendas? I know several libertarian atheists who vote Republican for the GOP's economic policies but moan over the actions of the evangelical wing of the party. Paul Ryan's hero Ayn Rand was an atheist.

face it, today's conservatives are dangerous backward nincompoops compared to the true conservatives of yesteryear.

That explains a lot. Country place. Plural Marriage.

Small groups of women with synchronized menstrual cycles standing together at the kitchen sink, negotiating coitus rights under their breath.

Numerous malnourished, unwashed children scurrying about searching for raw root vegetables in the family garden.

Three old Washing machines on the front porch next to a flea ridden blue tick hound.

Rusty old cars decaying in the front yard.

A large dead and leafless oak tree on the property with a murder of crows on its branches.

A man in a dirty black suit with semen stains around the loin area sitting in a rocking chair picking his nose and reading an LDS bible next to a fully loaded shotgun leaning against the wall.

I've been in the mountains.

Took this pic while I was driving and texting and putting on mascara. I was doing other things, too.
