According to the Springfield Supervisors District Profile given at the below website, housing units in 2013 is 409 K . This will increase in 2020 to 435 K and then 2030 to 480 K.

Question: Where will these new housing units go ? Is there a plan to increase knowledge economy jobs via mixed-use shopping developments so that people who live in these housing and still work (that is not retired people) don't have to travel long communites everyday for work and home life ?

Thoughtful comments anyone for Springfield District of Fairax County Community Vitality ?

I have met Mr. Herrity once, and he is a thoughtful Republican, only one among all the Supervisors.

It would be helpful to consult him as to how the top 3 priorities of the Board of Supervisors of Fairax County (01) Strengthen Education (for knowledge economy ?) (2) Strengthen community safety (3) healthier Community

How these top three priorties can be strengthen given the budget for 2015 had to be cut due to very slowly improving economy in Fairax County as discussed at the recent budget meeting that was cohosted by the Provident District Supervisor, which I attended along with many other thoughtful citizens of Fairfax County with lively discussion, Q&A/

Present were knowledgable Fairfax County Staff who have worked so hard for many months to make the fiscal 2015 budget work, with 28% increase in school enrollment with many poor people moving into the county, whose children qualify for free lunch due to not having enough healthy food to eat at home.

Anybody thinks this is an important topic for discussion and intelligent community participation ?

No.

STEM is a hot issue. STEM is science, technoloyg, engineering & math.

I see that the "Common Core Initiative" discussion is getting hot now.

45 States adopted this "one shoe fits all" standards for kids with some financial help from the Bill Gates Foundation in 2009-2012 period.

Thank God, Virginia was one of these few states who didn't adopt it for math and verbal !

Several states who adopted it, are now leaving it in 2014 , including our respected neighboring state, NC, who champions "education" above all !

Read more, anyone who have kids at public school, this topic is important now will become even more important in Virginia, including Fairfax County, I think.
