Romney normally would be a joke, but in this election, he's a better alternative to our current President, who's failed leadership is just that.

Romney is up over Obama 5 in the latest poll in VA. NC is gone for Obama. VA is moving away. If Obama loses his current RCP average 3 point lead in Ohio, he's in bad shape.

Time will tell. GM still is owned by us, so yeah, it is Government Motors. And they still have yet to adopt the successful strategies such as extended warranties offered by Hyundai and Kia, which should make you question their quality. And the Volt? More like the Dolt. Not successful.

Osama is dead. Yes, the President gave the order after delaying it three times. Thank you to him for consulting Valerie Jarrett for everything, instead of Hillary, whom I actually do respect. She has balls, the same can't be said for the apologist that Barack is. Props to Navy Team 6 for kicking ass in Neptune Spear, and let's wait until November, because there's a saying "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket." It will be close, granted, but a lot can change from now to November.

I went to the McCain rally at Van Dyck last year. It was fine. But it's not much different from watching him on TV. It's not like I'm going to meet him or anything. Mostly it just messes up traffic for the schools. Ah well.

Can someone please tell me how you can, with a straight face, support Obama after the last 4'ish years? The behavior of this man and his wife have been appalling. Georgie may have been a bit dense, but he seemed to have much more tact and honor than this POS.
Don't get me wrong, Mittens is most likely a piece Of shit too, but he's still an unproven quantity. We haven't had a 4 year tour of his utter incompetency to base our opinion on.
I'd like a do-over on this election already. There is no up-side. But, how can you actually SUPPORT Barry?

Yeah, Obama has only done a few things right. Here's the short list:

If you're one of those who thinks President Obama is a "disappointment," my condolences for you not getting your unicorn. And it's time to grow up, and get over it.

What makes the "disappointment" argument even more irritating is that it's simply not true.

Is he perfect? No, he's human. Does he deserve some criticism? Of course, but at this point, it really doesn't matter.

What does matter is that this president has compiled a STELLAR record given the circumstances under which he took office. If you can look at this list of the president's accomplishments and not be excited, you have a serious problem with perspective.

Pass this list around to everyone you know. And don't be afraid; unlike many such lists, every item includes a link to a citation supporting it.

THey didn't put it together, they cut and pasted it like you dumb twats always do. Not a damn one of you can think for yourselves without the Dem talking point hive mind. lol

And half of it's bullshit. e.g.,

Ha. Then his DOJ cracked down on them. lol

That's because he had a Dem House and Senate. Beyond that, he doesn't have a clue how to run a divided government.

The facts are clear.

Romney and Ryan can't explain how to solve the debt crisis. When asked how they will do it they simply say "We'll figure that out later." That's fact!

Ryan's speech was so full of lies fact checkers called it blatantly false statements.

Romney spoke the truth about our leaders.
Obama spins, spins, spins with the help of his lapdog media.
Osama may be dead, but we have proof the his spirit is alive and well in Arab Africa and the Middle East. Just look at the pictures.

The liberal media is ignoring what is going on over there and talking only about Romney's verbal attack on the administration.

They are not showing Obama's laughing and smug speech in Vegas last night talking about HIS hard day! How about Amb. Stevens' hard day? And the hard day of the other State dept officer and the two Marines who were killed?

The media is also blaming the idiot pastor down in Florida. Does anyone really think those people in Egypt/Libya/Yemen would not have found another excuse?

Just watch, the next step by Obama will be curtailment of First Amendment rights. Think about it.

First two years of the Obama administration he owned both the House and Senate. Could pass any legislation he wanted. Yet Obamacare squeaked by only after making promises to individual Dems, promises that were later broken.

Can you name one voter who voted for McCain in 2008 who will vote for Obama in 2012? Didn't think so.

Yet the news is full of former Obama supporters who have switched to Romney.

Even if Obama wins, he is already a lame duck.

Jack,

Sorry to burst your bubble. The stats are in.

A Romney campaign staffer told The Hill that it expected between 5,000 and 10,000 people at the rally in the pivotal region. Afterwards another staffer said only 2,700 people had shown up after 5,000 tickets had been distributed. That's a big drop from a rally Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sarah Palin held in the same park four years ago this week, which drew approximately 20,000 people.

Umm, the logic is pretty sound. It's not like he pulled the trigger. Do you contend that George Bush captured Saddam?

Wait a minute. Let me rephrase that. He watched it on tv and had a mouse in his pocket.
George Bush did not capture Saddam and he credited the capture to
"U. S. military forces." (His own words) But here you go off topic by bringing
up GWB. Obummer followed the advice of the Generals and nothing more. I know
he'd like to be perceived as some sort of war hero but he couldn't even tie
a pair of combat boots. BTW, what was the overall plan he followed? Wasn't it
Bush's in the first place?

Actually looks like Romney was exactly right, despite the press trying to make it look like a mistake, given that the Obama administration came out later and denounced the statement on exactly the same basis. Update your talking points, you're about half a day behind.

Read what the Obama admin later said.
Tell me how he was wrong.

Just a note:

While the press was attacking Romney for stating the facts, Obama was flying to Vegas to campaign--no one asked O if that was appropriate.
While in Vegas, O gave an interview to Telemundo in which he couldn't decide if Egypt was an ally or an enemy--he finally took the middle road and said we don't yet know.

This is a very serious gaffe-FAR outweighing anything that Romney said and certainly a statement that has a real effect on our foreign relations--and a reflection of "leading from behind" policy.

It's also ironic that Obama attacked Bush on foreign policy as did Kerry when he was running against Bush. The real irony is that now Kerry has denounced Romney for doing exactly what he himself did.

I might also add for those too young to remember that John Kerry did SERIOUS DAMAGE during Vietnam to our soldiers who were still serving there. For those who don't know, he went to Paris and talked to Ho Chi Minh.

^ Long Memory has a firmware flaw. His shit doesn't compute and his facts are fucked.

John Kerry served his country by going to the fight in Vietnam. He came back and he criticized America's bad foreign policies - but only after putting his life on the line for a failed set of ideological endeavors based on shit intelligence and shit fact whoring.

John Kerry was brave enough to state the truth in public before the political machine. Bad policy and stupid foreign interventions do not work.

History proved he was right. We fucked up. We lost. It was a fiasco.

George Bush invaded Iraq under false pretense. He claimed the Mission was accomplished - and he was wrong. The whole thing was a waste of American Treasure.

Obama made the correct decision and shut the cluster-fuck down in Iraq and did the same in Afghanistan.

We are out. Good decision. Good choice.

And the fuckstick Republicans want to rewrite history - as if!

Whether Obama goes to Vegas or Hollywood to write his narrative matters not to me.

So long as this narrative continues to focus on the facts, truth, and actual history - I am enthusiastically on board.

Romney is running against a phantom of fiction - that you are not better off.

Hey Douchebags - the DOW was at less than 8,ooo when Obama took office. It is now well over 13,300.

Clue - You are TOAST!

We don't know whether the current administration in Egypt is an ally or an enemy. It seems as if the Muslim Brotherhood themselves don't know. They like our $2 billion/year in aid and our tourist dollars, but their power base is rooted in a populace that is distrustful of the U.S.

The president's response was nuanced. That is what you do with diplomacy. You don't go around hitting people with a hammer.

Notice that he made that statement on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning it was reported that he had a phone conversation with the president of Egypt.

Nuanced? They didn't even wake 'nuanced' his ass up. lol

Sorry, the various parties in the Middle East have been playing us forever and the 'nuanced' crap is exactly why they've gotten away with it. My wife worked with as a representative/lobbyist in the US for a particular group for many years (going back to Carter days). I can tell you first hand that they absolutely laugh at the shit that Americans take and still hand over the money. It's a game and they play it masterfully. They have no respect for anything other than a hard-line approach. Which they'll never see from this or likely any other administration as long as we need oil and we're tied to Israel. We'll say "tsk tsk... shouldn't have done that" and then hand over more cash. And they know it. That's the un-nuanced reality.

@Foreigner:

First of all, your understanding of our historical relationship with Egypt and the nature of the country is lacking two key facts:

1) Egypt has some oil, but ends up using most of it for its domestic consumption. The U.S. relationship with Egypt has never been about oil. If anything, its major strategic importance is tied to the Suez Canal which allows the oil (and a whole lot of other stuff) to flow to the West.

2) Strangely enough, Egypt has also been quite tied to Israel as well up until recently. That is the reason for our $2 billion/year in foreign aid (the most besides Israel and Afghanistan).

Now, for a recap of the current situation and recent events:

This is a country that has just had a revolution to overthrow a dictator that the U.S. supported. We used to be able to pick up the phone and tell Mubarak what to do, it doesn't work that way anymore apparently. What is going on now is our diplomats (and the president) are trying to determine HOW MUCH that relationship has changed.

It appears that Egypt is attempting to create a democracy. They held elections and they have a democratically elected government.

Democracy is ugly. Its about public protests. Just because the protest is pointed at us doesn't mean that it has to be stomped out. The irony is that Romney is talking about being unapologetic about our "freedom of speech" but he is decrying the Egyptian's right to protest in Cairo?

What happened in Libya wasn't a protest, it was a terrorist attack on an unhardened consulate. What is going on in Egypt is a protest in front of a VERY hardened embassy in Cairo.

What is interesting is that the general populace in Benghazi is very pro-American because of our help during their uprising -- we were always the enemy of their dictator. The Egyptian situation is different because we were the supporter or theirs.

The nature of the two events in each country are different too. In Egypt it has been an attack by an unarmed mob on an embassy which is basically a fortress. In Libya, it was an all-out 4 hour assault by heavily armed fighters on what was essentially a rented apartment complex.

The two countries look the same when looking at a map -- they are two similarly-sized desert countries in the north of Africa on the Mediterranean Sea. But the more you know, you realize how different they are. Libya is an insanely oil-rich country of 5 million people. Egypt is a poor country of 80 million people.

Simplifying these two situations to say that our government is "apologizing" or "being weak" is bullshit. We have a 35-year working relationship with this country -- we're not going to simply throw that away in one big temper tantrum. We have been friendly so you give them the benefit of the doubt.

Its amazing that this area is the cradle of civilization. Its supposed to be a place that all of our good Christians are supposed to know and understand. Egypt, Israel, Palestine have been in the news for years and years and yet most people have no clue about them and what is going on there.

Rational and articulate. You've actually thought things through and applied some logic.

Ironic that the chucklehead behind the movie that fired all the Muslims up is an Egyptian Coptic Christian, a convicted felon, and not even an American - and yet the cops went to his house to protect him.

That would never happen in any of these shit hole countries attacking our Embassies.

That makes me proud and sad at the same time. Proud because we are that good. Sad because Mitt Romney and the GOP Legion of Gloom just don't get it.

The guy is on one non stop party. Dancing on tv, playing golf, lavish dinners. Hopefully the voters will turn on the lights in November ending his party.
I do agree he didnt gamble. That would require he use his own money, he only likes to waste others money.

Then we have poor George Allen, with his wild west collection of nooses and his flag collection consisting of confederate flags. He makes frequent trips to Smoot Lumber to get the fixins for the fiery crosses he is so fond of.

Allen and Mitt Romney would like nothing better than to hang themselves a negro, one in particular living on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Both of their campaigns are more than finished. Allen will go into partnership with John Dozier and write threatening letters. Romney will bully the people who built his car elevator and enjoy the extra wives he can have when he is out of the public eye.

Actually I understand very well. I've lived and worked there (as well as here). Where you are lacking is that you are viewing this entirely from a Western perspective. Egypt is no longer the Egypt that you knew and it never again will be.

Not understanding completely the implications of the "Arab Spring" was a very large miscalculation on the part of the US. The Muslim Botherhood is a very patient and practical group (as well as Hizb ut-Tahrir and similar associated groups). They will do what is necessary near-term on the way to accomplishing longer-term objectives which have a very fundamental basis and are not subject to compromise. They were exiled/banned from the country for some very good reasons. Any "democracy" established will be subordinate to Sharia and the moderates will be pushed aside. For a variety of historical and strategic reasons, Egypt is to serve as the center to re-establish the Caliphate. If you're not familiar with the concept, then you should read up and then you may have a better appreciation for what's actually happening. It is the single, common objective of all such fundamental Islamic groups, Al Qaeda being the most radical faction, the Muslim Brotherhood being more politically based, Hizb ut-Tahrir being more socially based.

None of this is conspiracy theory or some big secret. It's very clearly stated in their own pronouncements and well known to those with background. If you don't understand that this is in fact the case, then you may want to sit down with someone with deeper knowledge of the region versus what you get from the media here and have them school you. Or just wait and watch as things develop as this very likely will become more apparent soon. The US likely will try to leverage the military to try to keep things in the direction that favors our interests but without a strong dictator in place like a Mubarak that can't work longer term.

The protests there now have nothing to do with any video. It's simply a convenient excused used to stir the pot. The protests have been promoted directly by the government. The video only became known to the general public because it was pushed on Egyptian TV. Again, looking at it from a non-Western perspective, that does not happen as it does here and without approval of the government. As a further example of how clueless they believe Americans to be re all of this, at the same time yesterday that the government was sending out an apology to the US Embassy over its English Twitter feed, it was promoting the demonstrations planned for today over its Arabic feed. Although they did get busted by the US Embassy.

@Ikhwanweb: "We r relieved none of @USEmbassyCairo staff were harmed & hope US-Eg relations will sustain turbulence of Tuesday's events."

USEmbassyCairo: "@Ikhwanweb Thanks. By the way, have you checked out your own Arabic feeds? I hope you know we read those too."

lol

Watch and learn.....

@Foreigner

I am glad to talk about this with someone who is well informed. What you write is exactly what I was talking about and we are in agreement as to the implications of the change in government.

Given the circumstances, I really feel that Obama's response to the question of Egypt being an ally was a nuanced response -- don't you agree? It showed just enough of a hint that, "you have been an ally for many years" and "we have no idea what your current position vis-a-vis the U.S. now".

The Muslim Brotherhood isn't some new political movement as you know. It has been an agent for change in the Middle East and a thorn in the sides of the brutal dictatorships there for decades.

On the other hand, they represent a strict religious world view and would like to enact a new Caliphate, as you mentioned. The power base is in Egypt, but it is a Pan-Arab, if not Pan-Islamic movement/political organization.

On a third hand (ran out of hands), the Muslim Brotherhood has had its own run-ins against religious extremism.

This is a crossroads. What path will the Muslim Brotherhood choose? The president Mohamed Morsi is a graduate of UCLA and his two youngest children are U.S. citizens by birth. Its not clear which way things will go... seriously.

By the way, I too have spent many years overseas and completely understand the difference between seeing things from a Western perspective vs. the worldview of the Egyptians. It has been over a generation since Gamal Abdel Nasser and the most recent attempt at Pan-Arabism. We are at another crossroads that may or may not come again for another generation.

Our heady discussion of the deep historical roots and the possible ramifications of what has gone on during the Arab Spring and its aftermath reveals that the issues are much more complex than simply saying, "The president has been too weak." So much of this has nothing to do with the U.S. We are a major part of it, but its a big world and the Egyptians and Arabs in general are not a monolithic group.

I should add, that the Egyptians are shitting where they eat when they let this unrest and Anti-Westernism get out of control. A very large part of their economy depends on tourism.

In many ways, it is best for the U.S. to sit back and watch and let them flail about until they figure out what the hell they want to do and where they stand.

The reason the dress-wearing Arabs are acting up right now is because they know that the current U.S. president is a pusillanimous coward. They have nothing to fear, except perhaps receiving a "strongly worded condemnation."

Put a Republican in the White House, then the Arabs will crawl back under their rocks.

Ito, I appreciate your well informed responses. You are right, the President's statements with respect to Eqypt's status as an ally or foe was nuanced, as evidenced by his qualifying remark about their new government. We've had a long standing relationship with Eqypt, harkening back to 1978 when Carter brokered the Camp David Accords and then the 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty. But our relationship has been with dictators. The newly elected government may very well choose to repudiate the existing treaties. Obama's statement reflects the uncertainty of the situation.

With respect to the $2 billion in aid the U.S. provides Eqypt, folks, even more than to ensure the security of the Suez Canal, it's for the benefit of Israel. It is in effect a bribe. The Israelis are masterful fighters, but theirs is a tiny country, with a small population. Unlike Egypt, which has the largest population of the Arab states by far, they cannot fight a sustained war. The Egyptians actually figured this out during the Yom Kippur war, and were settling in for the long haul, necessitating our close involvement and non-military intervention.

U.S. brokered negotiations resulted in the 1979 treaty, in which Egypt recognized Israel's right to exist. The $2 billion is our yearly reminder of their treaty obligations. Every President since Carter has paid it. And it has worked. The Yom Kippur war in 1973 was the last armed conflict between Israel and Egypt.

However, the Muslim Brotherhood, the party now in power, has stated that they consider the treaty nonbinding and do not recognize Israel's right to exist. This is extremely problematic for Israel, and therefore, for us. (Now do you people understand why Obama said what he did, or does the statement "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully" by Mr. Bush better fit your world view?)

It's ironic, even hilarious, that so many Republicans who have been ranting about Obama's position on Israel and his relationship with Netanyahu are now ranting about how we should cut off this aid to Egypt. It is probably the only thing that has kept Egypt's 80 million people from driving Israel's 7 million into the sea -- well, that and Israel's nuclear weapons, of course.

You can catch a glimpse of him in the video at 5:33. It's the same guy who heckled at West Springfield HS a few weeks ago. Reports are that he is not from Fairfax - he is an unemployed convict - the typical Obama mouth who was not good enough for the Occupy movement.

Pretty gutsy to scream over Romney as he is about to offer a moment of silence to honor dead Americans. Dead because Obama ignored the warnings and refused to provide armed Marines to protect our people and property in Egypt and Libya.

But that's what we get for supporting Muslim uprisings.

Romney's words and actions after the Muslim uproar over the embassy and consulate storming - join the Islamist's attacking America by attacking US Foreign Policy and attacking the President of the United States. Weak and desperate! Definiely Unpatriotic.

No, unpatriotic is our President bowing to foreign leaders, apologizing for our successes, and too stupid to attend the security briefings where he would have known three days before the attack that it was imminent.
