I moved to NC in the early 90s and recently I have gotten married, and now have 2 kids, one a rising 2nd grader and another to be going into Kindergarten.

I was taking a look at individual demographics of schools and how FCPS is now only 40% white.

Im no racist "Get off me land!" Type of person, but I do dislike it when immigranrs come over and refuse to speak English and make fun of American children. After seeing this demographics, are these schools becoming too diverse?? By diverse I mean foreign-born students, what will FCPS be like in 15 years?

I am Black myself and I my family has been here for centuries, I want my kids to attend good schools and I realize that (unfortunately) the better schools usually consist of a predominately white population. But will whites and blacks be leaving the county? FCPS data shows that both White and Black populations are beginning to fall.

Is it sound investment to buy a home in good school zone right now? Or are the schools becoming filled with those who end up in ESL programs, the school in NC we send are oldest too is about 80% White and 20% Black, no ESL program at the school.

Any areas that are consistently known for good schools

FHS HAS GOOD TEST SCORES

FCPS is in a sorry state. The emphasis is on peripherals, such as sports, band, consultants, administrators, coaches, fundraising, and conferences.

Immigrants are being used as a scapegoat. They aren't the ones going to Orlando or bringing in self-proclaimed experts in some trendy learning theory.

FCPS struggles due to the fact that most of the kids are non-english speakers, this county struggles immensely. In Loudoun, most of the bad schools are isolated to one pyramid. Park View HS, any elementary that feeds into it. While FCPS bad schools are generally located in the Beltway south of Route 7 and the Route 1 corridor, Reston has a bad ES and Herndon has a few, Chantilly has Brookfield ES, which is kinda bad.

I know most students in FFX county do speak english well regardless of where they're from ...

I believe there are schools in P.William county which are nearly all ESL with 1st language Spanish and FFX county's ESL is growing by leaps and bounds.

Americans get tired of people who come and refuse to assimulate to our language, traditions and values.

There are many who come here, beyond high school age, and never learn conversational english, but remain in their social circles their entire lives speaking their orignial languages, but who also pull benefits from the government, which are actually paid for by US Citizens via taxes.

I'm pretty sure the test results are pretty skewed in favor for FCPS through various shenanigans involving the ESL kids

You want good schools? Move to Falls Church City, but prepare to get butt raped in taxes. You get what you pay for....

They take away our freedom of association, our ability to live around like minded ppl that support each other as a community. Also stops us from uniting against an overzealous government.

??? Why should it stop us? It doesn't matter if you're a minority or not as long as you exercise your second amendment rights you can rebel just as well as others.

Well contrary to your popular belief, I voted for Romney in 2012. I support diversity but I dont support illegal immigration, I want a sustainable future for my children, wondering if FCPS will be good thru 2028, thats all

FCPS - like the U.S.A. - is undoubtedly in a slow decline. The hysteria about it being the end of the world as we know it NOW is overblown. No great empire or system collapses instantly. It will be a long slow ride to the bottom. Probably not for another 50 years. So you are good until 2028. I expect around 2030 things will start to get a bit rocky as the "pockets of excellence" get smaller and smaller.

Fauquier schools are still majority white racist schools. If thats what you are looking for they have it.

This slow decline thing can be stopped if we get a better president, Obama has done nothing. Also if you want an area thats white, try McLean, Great Falls, Vienna, Fairfax City, Oakton, a few others. Now places such as Ashburn are really white and Haymarket, Bristow, Nokesville, Gainesville is pretty white.

It has gotten worse ever since Prince William County decided to crack down. The illegals have all fled here to Fairfax, where they have been welcomed with open arms and checkbooks of the people, whether we like it or not...

Also somewhat OT- notice how all the apartment rents have shot up dramatically and apartments are mostly overcrowded now (simply my obversation with friends living in various apartment complexes around the county).

It takes $1,200 a month to find a BASIC 1 bedroom unit in Fairfax County proper. I don't mean PWC, I mean in Fairfax County feeding to a fairfax county school. (source- apartments.com).

To lease said apartments, one must have an annual income of 36x the rent= which is $43,200 or $20.77 per hour.

The "Average" illegal immigrant worker at your local fast food/construction spot is only making minimum wage- $10 per hour (or ~21k a year).

The only way they can get the apartment is to a) have a LEGAL friend sign the lease paperwork then b) have 3-5 roommates all paying $2-300 each.

The apartment compexes don't care as long as the rent is paid on time (and they will as they literally have no place else to go!). They know they can jack up the rent and the illegals will just have to pay it to have a roof over their heads (gotcha!).

Sure there are low income places too- but even they require salaries of more like $12-15 per hour to qualify.

This is why there is overcrowding in apartments- a single wage earner of a low income will NEVER make it in fairfax alone (not just illegals, poor people in general!).

Immigrants made this country great.

FCPS is being dragged down by its leadership. Greatness does NOT come from turf fields, transexual bathrooms, the blather of Flip Flippen or Eric Jensen, instructional coaches, conferences in New Orleans, the defense of Marie Lemmon or Boosterthon.

The problem is the school board. The problem is Karen Garza. The problem is the Board of Supervisors. Get rid of them, get some real leadership, then sit back and watch what can be accomplished.
