Lorton, VA – Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) has received an “F” rating from the National Taxpayers Union, a non-profit, non-partisan citizen group devoted to lowering taxes and reducing the size of government.
Connolly’s score of 13 percent classifies him as a “Big Spender” in Washington.
In conducting these ratings the National Taxpayers Union analyzed the voting record of all House and Senate members during the first session of the 112th Congress, focusing specifically on votes that significantly affected taxes, spending, debt, and regulatory burdens on consumers and taxpayers. Each of the votes is weighted to reflect the importance of each vote’s effect. Depending on their record legislators can receive a rating from A (“Taxpayers’ Friend”) to F. More information on the methodology and the list of votes analyzed can be found at

“I am not surprised that Congressman Connolly received such a extraordinarily low score from the National Taxpayers Union,” said Colonel Chris Perkins. “His 'government-knows-best' agenda demands that the Congressman increase the size of government and raise taxes on hard-working Americans. This rating is proof that Congressman Connolly is more concerned with keeping his own job than serving the needs of Virginia’s 11th Congressional District.”
Chris Perkins is running for Congress in Virginia's 11th District against incumbent Democrat Gerry Connolly. Perkins is a retired Army Special Forces Colonel who served in uniform for over twenty-four years. Colonel Perkins believes in a strong national defense capability, limited government, individual rights, and personal responsibility.
