Advice: Do not speed here

Dont speed on 123 over the bridge that goes over 66 from oakton into fairfax. That spot is marked way under what the speed limit should be (its says 35mph), pigs seriously eat that shit up. BEWARE!!!

also, share other places that are especially targeted areas for speeding (and yes we all know the whole county is a bitch when it comes to cops getting you for bs) but lets talk about the most prominent annoying areas so we can adjust our driving habits appropriately.

This website offers mobile alerts and texting to report speed traps - http://www.trapster.com/

There is a nifty little device on the side of the road that will greatly assist you in beating "the man". It's called a speed limit sign. If your match your car speed to that number or lower, you are guaranteed happy motoring.

That speed trap has been there for at least 25 years. Agreed, not the place to speed!

I live right there at the 123 speed trap. I LOVE watching ppl scream past me on the bridge, sometimes giving me dirty looks as they pass... only for me to smile and wave at them when I pass them pulled over. Here's a RARE thank you from me to FCPD.

I agree that the speed limit there is way too low. I think it's by design though to meet FCPD quota's for monthly tickets.

it goes to 6 lanes, controlled access and a straight shot and the cops sit under the overpass.

That is not a speed trap. The reason it is 35 mph is because the traffic is just coming off 66 and 123 is mostly stop and go traffic even during non rush hour. I always just go 35 and yes, everyone passes me but I don't care. I would rather have people just get mad and pass me rather than get a ticket.

Trickie

PS. I have never seen the police give a ticket on that road nor have I ever seen a police officer.

except FFX PD HAS no quota. They write whatever they feel like. Typically they write tickets to you if you are a complete dipshit to them and call them pigs. You know, like you. Dumbass.

no quota huh, you know that for sure? I think you might be right tho, there are so many people around here that they dont have problems giving tons of tickets every month, it would make more sense in small towns where they heavely rely on income from tickets.

I've talked to officers here about that and every single one of them have said there's no quota. In fact they usually only write tickets to people who give them attitude. Mostly they just hand out warnings so that people slow down, which is their job.

One of my kids was complaining last week that I was going too slow on that strip. Then we saw the cop writing a ticket. Saw cops each time.

Since cars have been invented, people have been screaming "QUOTA" when they get caught breaking traffic laws.

I don't know about Fairfax County, but I was an Arlington Co. officer for a few years in the late 70's and I was never, ever told I had to write X number of tickets.

That being said, the command had an idea of how many tickets the average officer would reasonably write. If that number was say, 20 a week...and you wrote say 2 or 3...they would suspect you were slacking and you'd hear about it.

This bullshit about cops going into some end-of-month ticket writing frenzy is pure myth...or at least it was in Arlington back in the day.

It still is as well as the myth of red cars being prone to receiving more tickets.

That's precisely what a quota is!!!! (lol) Write x amount of tickets per month, or else get reprimanded for slacking off.

Why does it matter what you call it? He said he was never asked to write "X" amount of tickets but officers who did next to nothing were spoken to, and rightfully so. It's probably difficult to drive around 8 or 12 hours a day and find NO violations of law.

They are at work doing what they are paid to do - enforcing laws - and people are violating laws. Violators get tickets. It's a known risk to driving outside the confines of the law. Everyone knows people drive like idiots around here so any officer who goes an extended period of time without writing any tickets is obviously not doing their job.

How many traffic violations does your presumably untrained eye observe yourself during your commute each day? I suspect it is rather easy to issue tickets to violators in this area, especially when they are spotted by the police, who have training and equipment to detect such violations.

At your work if you turned in nothing at the end of the week but your bosses knew that the work was there to be completed are you suggesting that your bosses wouldn't say something to you? How would your evaluations go if you never turned in any work or completed any projects? Would you continue to be employed there?

If this is the case please let us know where you work as many would love to work there!
