Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
A small blue lizard just ran into my kitchen from outside! I picked him up with a paper towel and put him in a mixing bowl with a little bit of water, put the cover on it, and walked him across the street to the pond and dumped him in there to set him free.
Why would it come in the house? I know it rained a lot last night and today and I don't have any bugs in my house...is it that hard out there for a lizard? Just odd to see one running across my kitchen floor out of nowhere!!!
A half gallon of vodka rolled across my floor today. I picked it up and made a few bloddy mary's. Is it hard out there to be a handle of vodka? Just odd to see a bottle on the kitchen floor out of nowhere!!! but I thank who ever made this happen!

Lizards live on land, you probably shouldn't have thrown him in the pond. Did he swim away?
Yes, I poured him out right at the edge of the pond (only 3-4 inches deep) and he swam into a thicket of grass along the edge. After that I lost him, but he was definately alive, no worries. I know they eat bugs so are a good thing, I just didn't want him in the house.
I found where he got in- there is a HUGE hole where my patio door frame meets the house- sad thing is I just got this patio door not 4 months ago! I am calling the contractor in the AM they f'd up there should not be a 2 inch gap there! I just stuffed some steel mesh there to close it up.
