Seems like its close on 2 years since the place closed for repairs. I figure Jr is advanced in age and theplace is in limbo?

I noticed a bunch of cars parked in their lot on Saturday, wasn't sure if that was a good sign or not of re-opening.
It's actually only been about a year since it closed. I honestly foresee that place getting torn down eventually. Too good of a location to be sitting empty all this time.

Repair Project Update for
our Restaurant Customers:
J.R.'s Stockyards Inn remains
TEMPORARILY CLOSED.
We had completed about 90% of
our repairs and renovations, and
were prepared to finish during the
Winter so that we could re-open
in late Spring. However we
encountered an administrative
problem that won't allow
us to reopen. As a result, we will
not be reopening anytime soon.
We are extremely disappointed
as we felt the Summer would be
the perfect time to re-open and
re-unite with all of our
customers/friends. We are so
appreciative of all of you
who have continued to check
on us and express your support
for us to re-open as soon as we
could. This project had already
exceeded our patience and our
budget, be we have been so
overwhelmed with your continued
support and we had really hoped to
be re-opened by now. As soon as
we have a new update on our status
we will post it here. We wish
all of you and your families
the best in 2012, and
hopefully look forward to
seeing you all later in the year.

So maybe later this year? Who knows. I hope it comes back though. That was my go to steakhouse.

Does anyone know if that place is related to the restaurant named JR's that was once located at ground level in the Circle Towers complex facing Lee Highway? I recall JR's being a steakhouse but I don't recall much else.

Yes JR ran the JR's in Circle Tower
JR came from North carolina originally and his family i believe ran a few restaurants on route 301 near Rocky Mount
