Hey Cert, can you tell us a little more about CERT Training. I found this online: http://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/ Is this what your talking about? If so it looks interesting. How and where do I sign up? Tell us what you like about the training and why you feel its useful. It looks good online, but Id like to hear from someone whos been to the training before I sign up.

CERT trains you on fire fighting things, searching, rescuing and saving live with medical training. It saves lives. Training is done by Fairfax at their training building on West Ox. Very tough training, but fun. I like to save lives.

Thanks for the proof. This hardcore dude needs 2 portable radios. That alone shows how important he is. He also needs that little fag pack and Im sure that has some "Save the world" BS stuff in there. Not only that, he's required to wear that protective/reflective vest so others can locate him in the time of need, like in a smoke filled room or a dust storm. Obviously, that cap goes without needing to be mentioned, it so others who are extremely stressed with the life threatening moment they're feel relaxed when they see that hat. They will suddenly know someone from CERT is there to save the world and everything will be taken care of.

Who the fuck am I kidding? I was joking and trying to make this CERT fella feel better about himself. CERT is a joke, not the poster "CERTenly" but the whole BS CERT program.

Look here the VDF is highly trained. Make fun of them all you want but they are a highly specialized force not to be messed with. Bet you would not say any of this stuff to their face and they are a huge part of national security. Respect the ones who serve your country. out.

Writing normally (just this once). I was with the FD, assisting with CERT Training, and had the opportunity to observe the CERT volunteers...sure, there were some people who were a little, well, odd, but most of the CERT people were serious, worked enthusiastically during the exercises, and I thought they would indeed, be a valuable asset in a situation where standard EMS couldn't get to an area for some period of time, say, during a weather disaster, etc.

Bottom line, CERT volunteers are there, training, doing something, ready to assist, when most people around here bunker up with their TV's and do absolutely nothing to help the community.

So...CERT Rocks!

I happened to see some of these CERT people tonight at a local National Night Out event. I spoke with one gentleman for some time and Id have to agree with the above EMS dude. The guy I spoke with seemed level headed and seemed to enjoy knowing what to do in the event of an emergency. A few of the other guys there seemed a little odd and to be quite honest, one of them Id rather bury himself during an emergency. I think this one guy would do more harm then good. Makes me wonder though, which one was CERTenly?
