Metro's Rockville station closed after person struck by train, killed

WASHINGTON - Metro's Rockville station was shut down on Saturday morning after reports that a man was hit by a train.

The station has since reopened and Red Line trains are single tracking in both directions between Shady Grove, Rockville and Twinbrook stations, Metro says.

The agency says the man "intentionally placed himself in path of n/b Red Line train" at 11:17 p.m. and was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.

No further information has been released about the victim.

I agree. Cleaning the remains is bad enuff. Shit stuck everywere and in the ballast but then you have people puking all over the place. You know that thick,slimey industrial type with chunks because they dont chew cause always in a hurry.
Metro central shop was tellin me about how they had to unwrap some guys intestine
From the wheels and motor few weeks back. Had dryed out and had to chisel it off.and everytime they smelled shit.
Better for the jumper to do it on Saturday when I dont work

They must really hate Metro. I guess the commute got to them.

Why place yourself on the tracks? Yikes! That takes balls.

Why not just go out on a booze blend with a drug cocktail? Just pass out and fall asleep?

I just feel sorry for the drivers of the train that have to deal with this version of angry birds on quite a regular basis. For them, it really sucks, and it is selfish of the person jumping in front of a chain. Go to a high building or something.

Even if Metro as a whole sucks, that is a poor reason for permanently fucking with some train driver's brain. Hitting someone on the tracks or even near misses really leave drivers and engineers messed up. There is seldom anything they can do but sit there and watch the whole thing unfold in front of them. Plus you are not only messing with Metro, you are also messing up the day for everyone who was going to take that train line that day.

What do you expect? An award? An atta boy? Sympathy for a individual so wrapped up in his own problems thst he felt he had the right to cause great harm and cost to the public? It would be one thing if it was an accident, or a person incapable of safely being near the metro unsupervised. This guy deliberately decided to passive aggressively end his life with an act designed to punish the public. Sad? Yes. Do I wish he had gotten or sought help? Yes. But I'm a little short on sympathy for someone who's last act was antisocial, and made his action an effort to say fuck you to the community. So he's earned the comments he gets. It's just the community using some dark humor to get past a horrific situation. He didn't really leave us a whole lot of options for a better outcome. Damn shame for everyone.
