Shakey's Pizzaaaaaaaaaa

How awesome was Shakey's in good ol' Actiondale? Man I have some great memories from when I was a kid (I'm 34 now) of Friday nights there. The big tropical fish tank, the cargo scale where you and all your friends would weigh up, the buffet complete with self-serve soft serve ice cream, the arcade room, the karaoke...man there was a guy named Leon Reyes who used to sing there that was stooooooooooone cooooooooooold. Great memories, I dropped many a quarter in that arcade and my dad probably drank a thousand beers there. I miss Shakey's bad.

Aaaaaaaaah you know what man I don't really remember too many specific names from back in those days...but it sure was a good time. Damn shame there isn't something like Shakey's around anymore. They had good food, surprising for a buffet but it was quality stuff. What a great place, and what do we have now?! Psssssssssssssh my kids are being robbed, yeah they have Ipads and stuff, but that is all garbage compared to Shakey's and Springfield Mall.

There used to be a Horn&Horn nearby right? Or Shakey's was Horn&Horn? Anyway, I used to go there when I was a kid.

Dumbfuck, Horn and Horn was the smorgasbord next door to Shakeys.

The OP went to Shakeys every Friday, I was at the smorgasbord every Friday with my grandparents. First and only time I ate liver, thinking it was salisbury steak. I think I really just went to play Mike Tyson's punch out in the back and get the swirl soft-serve

And no, neither Shakeys nor Horn & Horn had good, or even decent food. It's just that you were a kid and didn't know any better.

Oh, good times.

You make a strong point Que?...I was pretty young and the overall awesomeness of Shakey's may have me blinded to the truth of food quality. The soft serve ice cream was 100% legit as hell though, I'm certain you will agree.

It's hard to screw up the soft serve, and I still choose soft serve over regular ice cream if given the option.

Seriously though, that Smorgasbord is something that will stay with me for life. It's a shame That whole area has turned into El Seoul Saigon Salvador...

Everything always used to be better.

Watch TV shows from your youth on Netflix. I don't know about you... but I must have been easily amused.

Have you ever watched the TV series "CANNON"? I'm still amused by that show.

Move to LA. Shakey's is like a weed over there. Shakey's, Farrell's, and Bobs Big Boy are all over Orange and LA counties.

I spent plenty of time in Lost Angels.

I mean, after you have to deal deal with the high crime, noise pollution, air pollution, trash, billboards littering the skyline, sewer smell, homeless folk shitting by your car, street-sweeping tickets, diversity-overload, too many people in one spot. I smells bad...literally (did I mention the traffic?), constant drought, every gang ever invented; the list is long.

Feel free to add to it.

I wouldn't move in to that cesspool for a Shakey's or an fuggin Farrells.

I'll make my own pizzas & sundaes; or go to Sweet Frog or whatever.

Little Caeser's seem to be clawing there way back. Seen stores in Manassas and Annandale lately

Not crazy about the pizza, tolerable if hungry, but interesting that a chain at death's door in this area is making a comeback. rare thing for a fast fooder in these parts.
