Signs of Fairfax Budget Crunch

New Connection article where Hyland [D-Mount Vernon] and McKay [D-Lee] say that the real estate taxes must rise next year to support the budget. Also might try a meals tax to get money for schools. This year they raised residential taxes by 3 cents and commercial 11.
---------------
Hyland:

"It has been a balancing act to keep the quality of life our residents have come to expect and cut the present budget," Hyland said. It was only the escalating commercial property values along the Route 1 corridor that enabled the Board of Supervisors to raise commercial real estate taxes to balance this year’s fiscal blueprint, according to Hyland.

Hyland has Mount Vernon HS which has enough openings to hold a middle school in his District and is one of the architects of the South County Middle school. His district also has Whitman the middle school not in it's own attendance area.

I am confused.
