Famous People from Northern VA

Mila Kunis, from that 70's show, graduated from Fairfax County High School in 2001. Did anyone here know her and is there anyone else famous that went to school here or lived here?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mila_Kunis

Education

In Los Angeles, she attended Hubert Howe Bancroft Middle School.[11] She was mostly taught by an on-set tutor for her high school years while filming That '70s Show.[12] When not on the set, she attended Fairfax High School, where she graduated in 2001.[8] She briefly attended UCLA and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Fairfax is a pretty common place name in LA. It's a big neighborhood, major street, library, school, etc.

The only claim to fame that my alma mater has (Wakefield High School) is that we beat Grant Hill and South Lakes in the Regional finals in 1990.

Top two went to States. We lost in the semifinals. South Lakes lost in the finals.

My nephew Meade grew up in Leesburg and is quite famous in his own right.

Check out his place

http://www.meadeskeltonsplace.com/

There's talk amongst the family about how Meade finds the money for a website, producing new recordings and financing a big video shoot for his song "Sweet Tea".
Especially, when he recently posted on his YouTube channel that he was facing severe financial straits. It's so hard y'all. So hard.

There was a Tweeden from Manassas who was a sign painter and drag raced a yellow Nova at Old Dominion Speedway back in the late 1970's. He did the lettering on a lot of the local racer's cars. His pit crew was a nice Filipina looking lady. Since Leeann has a Spanish sounding middle name, could she be the offspring of these two??

Several members of the Talking Heads (and Tom Tom Club) band previously lived in the area. I think Tina Weymouth went to Annandale; her father was a navy admiral, and her neice is the publisher of The Washington Post. Not sure if Chris Frantz lived around here. David Byrne went to high school in Baltimore County, MD.

I used to see Telly Sevalas (Kojack) around town a lot. He kind of stood out in a crowd. I think his sister lived in Annandale or maybe Vienna.

Arthur Godfrey was probably the most well known entertainer of the 1950s to most of the U.S. His radio & TV shows were great hits. He lived in Loudoun, and used to do his radio show from his farm there. He would fly one of his planes back and forth from Leesburg to New York to do his TV show. They named the airport in Leesburg after him.

Nope. Went to George Washington High School in Alexandria, which is now GW Middle School.

In the mid 80's, I had always heard that Stewart Copeland, the Police drummer, had gone to Langley High for a year.

Checking Wiki, it does seem that he was born in Alexandria, Va, and his dad was in the CIA, which would make Langley High make sense, although wiki makes no mention of this.

Stewart Copeland went to either Langley or McLean, I'm not sure which.

Other notable Langley Grads: Lauren Graham, actress. Michael Arndt, screenwriter (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3, upcoming Star Wars). Tucker Cawley, screenwriter (Everybody Loves Raymond, The Mindy Project). John Beers, musician (Landlords, Happy Flowers).

Actually, Thomas Fairfax had a residence for far more than tax purposes. He was the only British peer to actually live on his land in the American colonies. He loved hunting, and built a lodge called Greenway Court near White Post, in Clarke County. He lived there until he died. He's buried in Winchester.
