is ground water safe to drink as-in in this county?

I went to a friend's house near Sterling(north of Rt 7) the other day.
His house gets water from underground well, which pumps water into a
tank in the basement. The water goes through just one mineral-filled
filter.

Is it safe to drink it as is, out of the tap?

Come to think of it, do you guys drink the regular tap water that
comes from the Fairfax County Water Authority?

If there is anything wrong with your tap water it's because of your houses pipes, the county water is fine.

Depends how good the filtration system is, my parents have well water and it tastes way better than than what comes out of the tap at my place even with a pur filter, but if you don't keep the filtration system maintained I doubt I would drink the water straight out of the ground.
