Check-point type thing with 3 police officers on Reston Pkwy this morning 4/12/12

So does anybody know what the deal was with the three police officers standing in the middle of the road going towards Reston right before the light at Mclearen?? It looked like the cop was looking into people's cars as they passed
Typically they are checking for expired inspection or registration, which they can see from the outside. If either was expired on your car they would have waved you over to the side somewhere to have a discussion with you about it and give you a receipt.

They're called 'Sticker Checkers" and the officers assigned to sticker-checker detail are typically the bottom feeders of the police force.
By the way, this is what happens when you have a huge police budget and very little work for these guys to do. They should be reassigned to Centreville and given some real police work to do.

That doesn't make much sense. Wouldn't it be better to put the checkpoint around the corner from a Dunkin Donuts?

There were three of them, standing in the road on Reston Parkway looking into cars. They appeared to be checking for expired stickers and appeared to be cranky because they were not observed to be holding any 7-11 coffee or donuts.

Writing tickets IS part of their job. You must have not been able to get your POS car inspected and it's the popos fault you got a ticket. Disgruntled customer!

Yeah, let's just ignore the 30 or so illegal spic's hanging out at 7-11's in the morning, and check cars for dead inspections, or tags....what a fucking joke...why try?

People know what you mean when you say illegal, you dont need to add the extra bigotry. I don't think they're being ignored... Obviously people know theyre there. You're pretty ignorant if you think illegal aliens are a police only issue. Most that go to jail clog the system and still get released. That issue lies with the BOS/congress/ICE etc. Why don't you police yourself before you knock what our officers do for us. Regardless of what you think of police, the fact remains that Fairfax County has the best trained officers in the region and it pays off. If you're upset over inspection tickets, move to PG. If this is the worst we can say about our police department then damn were pretty f-in lucky!

Yes because criminals usually announce when their crimes will occur. Damn police why can't you predict the future!! I got a better idea, let's station a police officer in every bank and on every shithole corner to stop all these bank robberies and rapes that occur. Then well just be on here in a few days complaining we have TOO many officers and spending way too much on them.

I like it!
Or maybe just more police following up leads\door to door investigations instead of tax sticker checks.

LOL they already do that... Fairfax is fortunate to have a patrol section and a criminal INVESTIGATION section. It's not all like you see on TV.
I'm surprised by the lack of education Fairfax citizens have. Maybe if more citizens took more responsibility and paid their dues we wouldn't need to have someone ENFORCING it.

but it's so much more easy to just blame the cops for doing their job instead of blaming the criminals for crime
LoLz
