Technically reviewing information is still learning. When you review something you orginally learned 6 months ago you are refreshing your recollection of it. By reviewing you increase your understanding of it and it makes for more long term retention of that information.

In many cases things leanred and tested for in September woudl be forgotten by now. But by reviewing them they come back in your mind and they to stay there.

The real period of non-learning is after the SOL's - then they don't even try to teach anything. It's all field trips and movies.
