Attempted robbery by construction worker has police baffled
Man demanded money from bank teller, then fled empty-handed
by Gregg MacDonald, Staff Writer
http://www.fairfaxtimes.com/article/20120320/NEWS/703209959/1117/attempted-robbery-by-construction-worker-has-police-baffled&template=fairfaxTimes

Did a construction worker walk off the job and decide to rob a local bank?

That is what Fairfax County police are asking themselves after a man wearing a construction hardhat and an orange day-glo vest reportedly walked into the Bank of America at 748 Walker Road in Reston shortly before 11 a.m. on Tuesday and demanded money from a teller.

Police said the man then fled without any money, making the case even more baffling.

“”We really don’t know if he is actually a construction worker or if he was wearing some sort of costume,” said police spokesman Bud Walker.

No one was hurt during the alleged robbery attempt, police said.

The man has a tattoo on his right forearm and his face is visible in the bank photos, which police have released, Walker said.

“We are asking the public to pay close attention to the man’s face and to the tattoo in the photos to help police identify him,” he said.

Police describe the man as white, 25 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds and with a beard.

Fairfax County Police photo Police have released this photo of a man who they say attempted to rob a Reston bank on Tuesday. Police said they do not know if the man is actually employed as a construction worker, or if he was wearing some sort of disguise.

So how does one attempt to rob a bank.

It doesn't say anything about a gun or weapon. He just walks up to the teller and says "Give me the money" The teller then says "Nope" and he walks off?

He isnt a construction worker, way too clean. Probably a reject from Walmart who kept the orange vest he used when hustling carts back into the store.

Great disguise, nobody will ever notice him.

Maybe up the disguise a little with a pair of sunglasses at least.

He's not a construction worker... in the second photo you'll notice he knows how to operate a cell phone.
